In short: An unusual fruity (kind-of)IPA. Dirty as hell. Very very good.kmweaver (3208) - Petaluma, California, USA - DEC 22, 2007
How: Tap at brewpub December 2007
The look: Dirty dark-red body with a small off-white head
In long: Aroma of complex fruity hopping with strawberries upfront!!! Full body. Once again the antithesis of a clean IPA (a recurring theme with Willimantic IPAs). Hard to describe. Walking into a bakery where they also make fruity desserts? A little cheese cake with lots of strawberries? A fruity caramel yogurt? Relaxed carbonation. The fruitiness exceeds the bitterness in this IPA but I don’t care it was good, very good. Another wacky IPA from Willimantic. Willimantic’s IPA family is about as unconventional as the Godbout family, old neighbours from my youth. I wonder if they finally made it to Tibet on their apricot-powered flying Futon?
Growler, courtesy of my sister-in-law. Thanks! Pours a murky orange-brown color; dirty tan head with solid lacing. Plenty of earthiness and chewy citrus hops in the aroma; chewy and a bit sticky. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: sticky earthy and mineral hops; some biscuity malts underneath; candy and brown sugar; not a lot of resins or intricacy in the hop character and a bit too much chewiness in the malts for my liking; still, reasonably drinkable and tasty. Medium, sticky earthy and citrus hops in the finish; some brown sugar.

"Poured a nice orange color with okay head lacing wasn’t great. Aroma was of citrus and some malts. Flavor was also of citrus/orange hops and a little nutty. Mouthfeel wasn’t great can’t put my finger on it. An okay beer."

Medium sized tan head, retention is good with a thin film for lace. Hazy, amber colored brew. Fruity nose, citrusy and a touch minty with some earthy notes. Body is medium, lightly oily, resiny. Fruity, hoppy flavors, malts are almost dry, a hint caramelly and maybe some butterscitch notes creeping in there. Finish is lightly sweet and fruity, bittering is sufficient. Thanks to my friend eaglefan538 for bringing home a growler and sharing it with me and my wife, Thanks much Brian! Cletus (6368) - Connecticut, USA - JUL 20, 2006
Pours a cloudy amber with a white head. Smells of citrus and some wildflowers. Tastes Piny with some citrus. Some doughy malt in the background. User37895 (3085) - - JUL 11, 2006
Cloudy orange color with a decent off-white head. Good retention. Lacing was ok. Aroma was citrusey with some light resinous notes and light orange rinds. Flavor was citrusey and resinous hops over some caramel and nutty type malt flavors (something I couldn’t nail with the right descriptor). With warming temperature light orange rinds and v. light grapefruits were detectable and pleasant. Grainy full mouthfeel. A nice IPA, but not sensational. Tap at brewpub with DYCsoccer. Pours a nice light ambe, mostly clear, slight chill haze, and a thin white head. Leaves a great lace on the glass- just like all thier beers. Aroma is pretty basic and straightforward- lots of citrus hops, fruity, orange, and light apricot. Somewhat sweet flavor with light caramel, mostly skewed towards hops, lightly yeasty, and has a nice clean hop bitter finish. Pretty standard IPA, but well made.
