Pours mahogany with a tan head. Smells of spruce, sage, resiny. Tastes of sticky resin, some spicy notes, lots of peppery hints, sage. Enjoyable. fredandboboflo (1570) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 17, 2010
Growler. Aroma of citrus hops and maybe a touch of spruce, caramel, nutty, nearly chocolaty malt. Flavor bright with fresh hops with rich but not overly sweet malt behind. Bold and tasty IPA. LilBeerDoctor (4193) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 15, 2010
Growler from the brewpub. Pours a dark mahogany (a little surprising for an IPA) with a small light tan head. Aroma of citrus, caramel malt, and a touch of roasted malt. Flavor of citrus hops, roasted malt, some roasted nuts, smoke, cookie malt. I don’t know if this was supposed to be a black IPA but it does have some qualities of one. Great IPA overall though!
