Pours brown with a thin tan head. Smells of fruit, sopur, oaky. Tastes of oak, fruit, bourbon, oak, caramel, and everything but the kitchen sink type beer and very enjoyable. Immy (1955) - Virginia Beach, USA - SEP 29, 2007
On tap at the brewpub. Dark, clear reddish brown with a creamy white head. The nose is a bit boozy at first, but mellows as it warms, releasing scents of sweet currant and raspberry laid over vanilla and sweet malt, all balanced out by a mellow bourbon. The flavor is more sour than expected, sour berries and bourbon followed by rich malt. A tad hot in the finish, sweet and sour. Full body, yet kept lively by the medium carbonation to create a soft, slightly syrupy mouthfeel. Simply awesome. Thanks for the sneak peek, Dave - and glad I could return for more! scraff (2121) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - SEP 25, 2007
Tap - This version was oak aged in Jack Daniel’s barrels with cherries, currants, and raspberries. Dark brown, creamy white head. Deep rich nose of berries drizzled with Jack, soft sour cherry, and hints of vanilla oak. Tangy sour dark berry flavors flow into further rich warming boozy oak and vanilla notes. Just a hint of hoppy bitterness rounds this out to near perfection. Full bodied and syrupy, soft carbonation, fruity, lightly bitter finish. Just a crazy and unique concoction that really worked...
