On tap in pint glass: pours dark brown / black with a thin tan head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is very heavy chocolate, malt and a slightly metallic aftertaste. Medium body, very little carbonation. Not bad, not great. Ernesto987 (6050) - Arizona, USA - FEB 14, 2013
on draft at brewery, I gave this one a tick higher than my notes because I just love their standard roasty stout malt bill. Roasty and clean, dry finish, could not ask for more. These guys are getting good. Dickinsonbeer (5074) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JAN 9, 2010
Tap at Willi. Pours a deep dark roasty brown almost black with a nice fluffy head- similar to SWAk- just roasty and nicely chocolate more earth as well- some spicing. Flavor is lightly dry acrid and burnt malts, roasty, chocolate and a mild smooth mouthfeel- nice. Cletus (6355) - Connecticut, USA - MAR 1, 2009
Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Smells of dry malt, some spice, peppery. Tastes sweet and roasty. Very drinkable. elihapa (1552) - Honolulu, Hawaii, USA - FEB 22, 2009
On tap at brewpub. Pours jet black with little head. Aroma has molasses, roasts and dry chocolate. I tasted distinct roasty flavors along with coffee and a certain graininess. This is a solid stout, but just as advertised, it suffers from the impression that it is “missing” a final flavor (“Just” Stout is Willi’s SWAK stout without the vanilla).

On tap at the brewpub. Black with a brown head. Coffee and lightly chocolaty nose, rather roasty. Flavor follows. Wow, I never realized how much the vanilla complemented in the SWAK. This is good, but not a stunner.
