Ancient backlog, from cask. Aroma of lots of graham cracker, some cocoa, spicy hop notes, pie crust. Flavor has more chocolate and is somewhat candy-like with a cinnamon-graham feel. Light tart notes also poke out from time to time. Solid.

Draught @ Brewpub: This one poured a hazy, reddish amber color. There was a small white head on it that left a little lacing. The aroma is roasty, with caramel malts also. The taste is a bit roasty, with hints of coffee and caramel malts. Slightly bitter. Very Good!

Cask at the brewpub. Pours a dark amber with a thick white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is loaded with caramel as well as dark porter malts, toffee, chocolate, mocha, and nougat. Flavor of light malts and oat up front with chocolate, toffee, coffee, and hot fudge in the finish. A complex and enjoyable beer (not your average "red" ale). 7/4/8/4/15 (3.8/5)

Cletus (6355) - Connecticut, USA - AUG 6, 2009
Pours reddish brown with an off white head. Smells of wildflowers, peppery, spicy, sweet caramel. Tastes of caramel and earthy with some bitterness on the finish.
