Growler from the brewpub, drank the day of filling. Warm, prickly aroma, with a nice crisp citrus edge. Flavors are bold and enjoyable. This is like a moderated Founder’s Red’s Rye, without so much sugar and more hop flavor. Delicious all around, I think with a great balance of hops and malty tooth. The brewpub freshness is fantastic. Very nice.
Poured into a pint glass at the brewery: Pours amber with a one finger white head. Aroma of heavy rye spice, caramel, and a little resin. The rye really stands out in this one, lots of spiced flavors but not overdone. Resin and hop bite also contribute nicely. Well balanced with a malt sweetness, this is a very enjoyable IPA. on tap at he brewery, this one was kinda bust, very watery and thin, none of that spicey flavors you can get from rye
