On tap at the brewery into a sample glass: Pours golden with a thin white head. Aroma of caramel, German malts, slightly floral. Tap. Pours a crystal clear dark amber body with a small frothy off-white head that faded to a thin covering. The nose smells a bit buttery with a toasted malt sweetness. Some vienna in here for sure. The flavor does show a bit of diacetyl, but it’s fairly hidden with hefty sweet vienna malt. A touch of alcohol on the finish. Medium bodied with some clingy sweetness and minimal to no hops. Pours a golden color with a small head that produces only sparse lacing The nose carries an average amount of grain with some heavy bready notes coming through. The flavor is all the same -- no real hop character, just grain and bread. Some light bitterness in the finish, which is also dry, but grain is really the dominant character here and it’s not terribly pleasing.

Draught. Amber pour with a medium white head. Aroma of caramel and malt. Taste of toffee and caramel with a slight bitter finish.

Draft @ Willi. Pours a bright, clear orange-amber color; thin off-white head with patchy lacing. Solid presence of red fruits, candied sugar; and sweet malts in the aroma; a light earthy / mineral bitterness, but not significant. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: chewy red fruit maltiness, candy sugar, and mineral bitterness at the periphery, balancing things out; the malt core is quite nice; very drinkable vienna. Commercial description at the brewpub was "This German style Vienna bier is brewed with Munich, Pilsener, Aromatic and Vienna malts hopped with Spalt. 5.6% abv ( A portion of the sales of this beer will be donated to the Willimantic Victorian Neighborhood Association)". Anyway, clear amber with a thin white head. Sweet caramel malt, bready, a bit of light grain. The Spalt hop influence is apparent. Flavor follows the nose exactly. Nice, light and very drinkable. Pours a lightly hazy golden yellow with a finger of white foam. Aroma is light sweet caramel and toffee, and spicy grassy hops. Flavor starts slightly sweet, with a light grain flavor. Transitions nicely into a spicy and vegetal hop bitterness that smooths out quickly, finishing fairly dry and quickly. A real thirst quencher, heck of a session beer.
