UPDATED: AUG 15, 2017 0,5 l Flasche. Schmeckt eher wie ein Schwarzbier als ein Dunkelbier. Deutliche Röstaromen, im Geruch ein wenig Kaffee, im Abgang leicht wässrig.

(bottle) Dark brown colour with a beige and firm medium-sized foamy head. Dark malty, delicately roasted aroma with notes of chocolate, mocha, traces of molasses and a whiff of herbal hoppy spice. Moderately sweet and slightly roasty bitter flavour, medium to light bodied with a soft carbonation. Slightly roasted malty taste with notes of chocolate, almonds/marzipan and shades of sugar beet; moderately sweet and slightly roasty bitter finish with a delicately herbal hoppy touch in the background. Solid and well-crafted brew. 01.III.17

0.5 l bottle from ’Biermuda’ as ’Willinger Dunkel’, best before June 2017. Clear, very dark ruby with a medium large, very dense and foamy, stable, beige head. Sweetish, slightly roasty-malty of chocolate, coffee, caramel and nuts. Sweetish-malty, a bit roasty taste of coffee, chocolate, nuts and caramel, followed by a short, slightly roasty-bitter, a little dry finish. Medium body, smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel, average carbonation. Nice!

Bottle. dark brown color. Malt, caramel and a hint of cardboard in the aroma. Malty sweet caramelly flavor with soft vegetable notes. Disappointing.

pivnizub (10963) - Bochum, GERMANY - JAN 15, 2017
Lahev: Amber coloured, hazy, bigger persistent, creamy and lacy, tanned head, mild to moderate - more dry than sweet - toasty and caramelly nose, presumably some berries and some nuts underneath; mild to moderate bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied, pretty soft; slightly lingering dryish bitter-toasty finish with caramelly and even ashy traces. Well made kind of bottom-fermented Porter...

Many thanks to Erzengel! 50cl bottle. Pours dark reddish brown colour with a huge most good lasting beige head. Aroma of dark medium sweet malt, nuts. Taste of sweet and mild roasted malt, caramel, molasses, nuts, delicious!

Erzengel (9899) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - SEP 7, 2016
On tap in Willingen. Smooth grainy caramel nose. The beer starts grainy-dry. Not too easy drinkable, slightly sticky malty, grainy with dray caramel. Moderate bitter with a grainy malty dry roast in the aftertaste. Nice but for me too grainy.

luttonm (7100) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 29, 2016
Frankenfest 2016, Rome. Really dark clean brown, creamy foam. Clean cool German malt. Cool beer, mild ferment and cool, muted sweet malt. Alright.

ippopotamo36 (2681) - Rome, ITALY - APR 29, 2016
At the Franken fest 2016 in Rome-Italy. Copper clear color, tick and persistent foam. Nose: crumb, almonds. Mouth: soft carbo, sharp flavor, bitter finish.
