A reformulation of the Willoughby Brewing Company Pale Ale. This is a new recipe from the original Lost Nation Pale Ale.

Our take on the American Pale Ale style, this light amber ale has a strong malt backbone with just enough bitterness to provide a clean, crisp finish. Brewed with traditional English malts and American hops, this versatile style pairs well with all types of food and cheeses.

Tap sample at OBW. Poured clear copper hue with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate aroma of citrus hops and sweet malt. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Well balanced flavor of malt and hops with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This is a solid drinkable brew.

Draft at Pigskin in Athens during Ohio Brew Week. Pours a clear orange color with a small off-white head that laces the glass. Notes of florals, citrus fruits, dry grains, pale malts, grass, and straw. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a bitter mouthfeel. Decent APA.

Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a medium caramel color with a medium sized foamy white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was faint grapefruit, lemon, floral hops and a was a bit dry. The flavor was a bit harsh and was semi sweet with moderate notes of grapefruit and lemon and a touch of pine. The finish was medium length rough fruity hops. Medium body. Decent.

Sample at the brewpub. The beer is a clear orange color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily. Aroma of hops, citrus and malt. Medium body with a fairly bitter hops character that has some citrus and pine notes. Notes of malt in the background as well. The finish is hoppy with a short mildly bitter aftertaste. Decent overall.

(Sampled from a growler) A nice hoppy aroma starts this beer off, which pours a clear amber, with a nice white head, and visible carbonation. Crisp clean hop flavor, but not too much there on the bittering side. Light on the palate. This is a decent beer, very approachable, but not the hop smack in the face Im looking for with an APA.
