The second of our series of three Jubilee beers (see Treetops and Canberra) which are inspired by ingredients from around the Commonwealth.
Based on a classic IPA recipe which uses Imperial Malt along with Chinook, Simcoe and Pacific Jade hops. However the additional special ingredients of Jaggery (raw cane sugar from India bought from Southall market), Jasmine Petals, Cardamom and Coriander produce a distinctive twist to this “Indies Pale Ale”.
The resultant beer is a pale, smooth, full IPA with a distinct bitterness and with a hop aroma that is enhanced by a touch of the exotic!
Our beer is named after the original “Kohinoor”, the large diamond at the centre piece of the Coronation Crown used in 1953 and whose history is traced for over 1000 years though we think this beer is a diamond of equal brilliance!

Beese (3209) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 8, 2014
Bottle from Waitrose. Poured a lightly hazy amber, with a dense white head. Aroma of citrus, pineapple and caramel. Biscuity malt flavours, with some flowery hops and pine. Finish was resin, toasted malt and straw.

330 ml bottle - Pours a dark rich amber, heavy carbonation and frothy white head but not much lacing. Smooth to drink but a weak palate. You can smell the spices but I couldn't get the jasmine.

BoBoChamp (5878) - Gent, BELGIUM - FEB 27, 2014
33cl, at 5.5%Vol, new exclusive English brew Anno 2012, with Jasmine petals, from the brewery, complex brew, malty/sweet and slightly spicy/bitter, balanced, clear, small head, nice brew

JonMoore (2067) - Loughborough, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - DEC 13, 2013
Bottle - dark amber colour with a slim, soon gone white head. Aroma of grassy hops, sweet malts. Flavour similar with developing bitterness in a longish finish. Not particularly IPA ish, not that good.

MrTipple (6424) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 2, 2013
Aroma: sweet and malty, little hops, not very pleasant though. Appearance: dark but clear amber. Taste: sweet. Palate: turns bitter, longish finish. Overall: no typical IPA, but does not work for me. Bottle from Waitrose.

maxwelldeux (4433) - Snohomish, Washington, USA - OCT 19, 2013
Bottle. Pours a very clear amber color with almost no head on it. Nose is hoppy, but seems a bit old, like the hops have turned - I get a bit of floral notes in there, but not much else. Taste is definitely a bit bitter, but still seems old. Meh.

Camons (13223) - Hasselager, DENMARK - OCT 7, 2013
