COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
WinterCoat's Imperial IPA is light amber in color. The fruitiness from the ale yeast combines beautifully with the body of the malts and the feshness of the bops to create a very well-balanced, though very heavily hopped brew. Double Hop has a heady hop aroma without too much bitterness. The smooth taste belies its 8.5% alcohol content. This beer is dangerously pleasant to drink!

hayduke (5599) - Eureka, California, USA - DEC 28, 2011
Pours a cloudy orange color with a big white head and lots of lacing. Nose of alcohol, citrus, and some spices. Medium and alcoholic mouthfeel. Flavor is a little tart and sour with lot of citrus and some bitterness. While decent, verall this is a lot like a raw American Barleywine and not worth in any way the $17,88 this 750 ml bottle set me back. But that is the fate of a beer ticker.

January 28, 2011 - on draught at Blue Monk. Pours hazy orange with an average fizzy white head. Strong aroma, like an american barleywine, alcohol, thick juicy malt, pungent resin/herbal bitterness, but a lot of lemon and citrus zest - more a winter brew. Taste follows - strong, very tart, the malt and bitterness take a backseat, quite strong alcohol. Average body, acidic and lively, a longish dry acidic finish - not really hoppy enough to be DIPA, but that’s just my take on it. Wasn’t really in the mood for sour this day, wanted HOPS.

Let this warm a bit out of the fridge. And drat, I think it might have turned. Poured with a slightly thick and creamy, cream to light tan head that slowly settled and some lace. Color is a clear medium amber. Aroma is yeast, funk, with just a slight bit of hop. Flavor is funk, sour sweet, chemical and basically undrinkable. Body is soft and full with good carbonation. Finish is too long even though it’s not that long.. I was looking forward to this. What a disappointment!
