WinterCoat's Imperial IPA is light amber in color. The fruitiness from the ale yeast combines beautifully with the body of the malts and the feshness of the bops to create a very well-balanced, though very heavily hopped brew. Double Hop has a heady hop aroma without too much bitterness. The smooth taste belies its 8.5% alcohol content. This beer is dangerously pleasant to drink!

Draught @ Lord Nelson, Copenhagen. Unclear amber orange color with a average fizzy fair lacing mostly diminishing off-white head. Aroma is moderate hoppy, grapefruit / pine, light malty, grain, light yeasty, earth. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

50 cL bottle, thanks to faroeviking. Pours hazy orange with a white head. Grapefruity aroma. Flavour is again fruity with a soft caramel base. Hoppy finish. Nice IPA but not double.

[At Jyske Øldage 2004, Kolding] An unclear orange beer with a white disappearing head. The aroma is sweet hoppy with hints of alcohol. The flavor is sweet malty and quite hoppy and bitter. A good Double IPA, but I’d like even more hoppyness.

Amber colour with an off-white head. Aroma of hops with notes of pine. Taste of malt with lots of hops. Nice and balanced aftertaste.

Draught. Slightly hazy copper colour with a small white head. Malty hoppy aroma. Sweet malty hoppy floral flavor with some hints of pine needles. Dry hoppy finish with a bitter aftertaste.

Bottled (thanks henrikb!). Hazy orange colour, nice white head. Herbal and flowery hoppy aroma. Some orange, candy and hints of yeast too. Flavour is leathery, fruity and even some caramel in finish. Also flowery hops and some grassyness. Aftertaste is yeast, fruits and hops.

Cask at Cigar City Brewing Cask for a Cause. Dark brown, small white head, medium lacing. Aroma of summer fruits and fresh meadow grass. Very hoppy taste, crisp and refreshing. Nice brew.

UPDATED: APR 20, 2006 Cask at Cockney Pub, Århus. Brownish amber, creamy head. Obvious lychee aroma. Really sweet with velvetty soft mouthfeel. Orangey with some caramel and lots of hop flavour. Also very malty, which hides some of the bitterness. A little bit too sweet, otherwise an excellent hop aromatic ale.

Hazy gold beer, good white head. Quite an aged malt nose! Light semi dry palate. Creamy malt nose, whisper of smoke. Slight sour note before the hops kick in - smooth orange and a trace of grapefruit. Finishes creamy and with light fruits. Well joined up and slightly off the beaten track.

(On tap) There ain’t many Double IPAs worldwide, and certainly not Danish ones. This comes with no less than four hop varieties. Lovely, aromatic, spiced, hoppy nose. Quite sweetish, but never cloying. Just as the hops although distinctive never get too much. Actually this is quite harmonious for it’s style. But not a beer for all night. 220505
