COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first WinterCoat beer on the market. A beer that has a bit more of everything - more malt (and therefore more body), more hops and more alcohol than a "regular" ale. Our ESB has a dark amber color. The English ale yeast contributes the fruity notes which are underscored by 4 types of hops which give this beer its fresh bitterness and complexity.

Hackney Bottleshare. Thanks to Leighton. Almost clear dark amber - brown beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts, some smoke and then something like horse shit, never tasted horse shit - but I imagine this could be similar!Tangy dry finish. Horrendous! Yuk!

Smoked, dark malts, loads of grains and cereal flavours, phenolic. Hazy brown, small, creamy, beige head. Light bitter. More intense grain and cereal malts, smoked flavours, light citrus fruits, soft carbonation, medium bodied. Unbalanced ESB, too phenolic, smokey, doesn't work. Bottle shared at Leighton’s - thanks to Leighton!

July 2017 - Bottle share at LKS. Thanks Leighton! As 'WinterCoat ESB'. Dark brdown, orange hue, translucent, foamy off-white head. Aroma is pretty phenolic and smoky, mega phenolic, burnt grass, the soil under a garden incinerator. Body is light and frothy with soft carbonation. Taste is more of the same – phenolic, smoke, lightly woody. Obviously not meant to be like this and wouldn't do well if judged to style/for flaws. Objectively, I don't mind the smoky vibes that much but the thin body spoils it. (5-4-4-2-11=2.6)

Flavour is composed of bitter dark choc, bitter roast, blackberry, plum, ashy roast. Palate is semi sweet, ashy roast, hot alcohol. Woody cherry. Little harsh.

Bottle shared in Hackney - sourced via trade. Pours clear amber with a small, creamy topping. The nose has some smokey phenols, leaves, toasted grains. Light sweet flavour with notes of meat, dried berries, leather, smoke, a little plastic. Light bodied with average carbonation. Odd mouthfeel, some tooth-coating goo. Finishes with more phenols, mild bandaid, leathery berries, leaves. So so.

Synes denne her øl har en underlig eftersmag af noget syrligt, det ødelægger desværre øllen ene del.

Tap at the Lord Nelson, Copenhagen. Poured a clear dark amber with a thin broken white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is rich red berry fruit, yeast, light malt. The flavour is moderate bitter with a sharp, crisp fruit, light aniseed, spice palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation. More like a Christmas Ale than an ESB.
