Beside the Bloesem Bink, you can also enjoy a second seasonal beer, the Winterkoninkske. This beer is, just like the others, unfiltered, not pasteurized, with secundary fermentation in the bottle. The Winterkoninkske is the ideal beer to make a cold and chilly winter evening pleasant. The ingredients are: seven types of malt (among which rolled oats), two belgian types of hop, brewing liqour and yeast. Our winter beer is a dark and heartwarming beer with a pure, sugary flavour and a long, bitter aftertaste. The alcohol content of this heavy beer is 8,3 % vol.alc.

bottle @ Belmont Party Supply / Dayton KY --- Aroma of toasted caramel malt. Opaque brown-black color, bubbly beige head that drops to a thick rim, stripes of lace. Taste is strong dark malt with fruitcake fruit and scalded caramel that moves through medium fizz to a semi-sweet finish that lingers into mild alcohol warmth. Strong, balanced, but still average overall.

Bottle 330ml cellared for approximately 2 years. Served at room temperature. Pours a burnt hazy brown (almost black) with a ruby tint. Head is large, dense, lightly tanned and lasts wonderfully. Aroma is rich and complex with notes of leafy hops; sticky date loaf, blackcurrants, burnt brown sugar, vanilla extract, rum liquor chocolate (light), star anise (light) and pepper. Flavour is exceptionally smooth with virtually no hop bitterness at all; dried currants (strong), dark plums (strong), tawny port, caramel sauce, lightly toasted brown bread, aniseed, cherry liquor chocolates (light), cinnamon (light), and some light leafy/herb notes in the finish. Full bodied with very soft carbonation, a slightly syrupy texture and a superb finish. ABV is amazingly well hidden! An awesome Belgian Winter Ale in every respect!

I thought this was going to be more like a winter warmer or whatever. Almost like an Imperial Stout. Also was a little worried about the juniper berries, but this was better than expected. Well balance with the chocolate & malts, mild berry, with a semi-yeasty finish. Has that Belgian flavor and feel to it. Getting some coffee and burnt sugar in there too. Fairly complex. This is one that Id look for again in the future for sure!

Flasche (33 cl, MHD: 12/17, einige Zeit gelagert). - Tiefstes Kastanienbraun, trb.

This smells like snow-y hedge woody, V understated winter special has the syrup-y thickness, but focuses on the fruit (raisins, plums) and a cola-y caramel end. Yet warms like a fire. Go figure. Winter-tastic, thats all I know.

Flaska frn Beergium.

On tap at Engine 15 (JAX). Very dark reddish-brown body that is topped by a weak head. Nice aroma that says "Belgian yeast". Flavor: too sweet up front and. less so, overall. Dark fruits, faint chocolate and spices. The body is slick, smooth, medium-full but seems a bit under-carbonated.

Draft at The Sovereign. Poured a very dark brown color, pretty opaque. Medium sized tan head. Aroma was dark roasted malts, dark fruits, vanilla, touch of raisins. Bitter chocolate, dark fruits, rich and creamy malt notes. Solid, rich roasted notes. This is delicious. Very solid.

Bottle. Pours Deep Reddish Brown with a Brownish Beige head. Very rich aroma. The pruney stewed fruit sweetness that I love from a Belgian strong ale. Wonderful flavour. a touch of burnt caramel. Raisins, plums. A real winter delight and one of my favourite Christmas brews (of the ones Ive tasted).
