Beside the Bloesem Bink, you can also enjoy a second seasonal beer, the Winterkoninkske. This beer is, just like the others, unfiltered, not pasteurized, with secundary fermentation in the bottle. The Winterkoninkske is the ideal beer to make a cold and chilly winter evening pleasant. The ingredients are: seven types of malt (among which rolled oats), two belgian types of hop, brewing liqour and yeast. Our winter beer is a dark and heartwarming beer with a pure, sugary flavour and a long, bitter aftertaste. The alcohol content of this heavy beer is 8,3 % vol.alc.

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2003 (Best by oct/06) Wow, this beer does have a slight chill haze, but it is still very dark. The nose is very spicy and full of licorice. The palate is medium in body and has a lower Co2 level than most Belgians. I taste a lot of iron, figs, raisins, and sweet yeasty fruit dusted in chocolate. The finish is very sweet and fresh. The hop existence is very minimal, but enough for the style. I am not overwhelmed.

Very dark shade of brown. Big head. Dusty lager aroma. A bit of dusty liqourice taste and thats just about it. Drinkable not nothing special.

330ml bottle served in a Duvel tulip. Deep brown pour topped by a small diminishing khaki head. Smells very sweet with notes of molasses, brown sugar, red grapes, doughy yeast. Lots of molasses in the flavor, fruity, slightly vinous. Produces a lot of warmth on its way down. Very smooth. Its a decent beer but a bit too sticky for my tastes.

Bottle pours a deep, almost black, color with some head and decent lace. The aroma is yeasty and fruity. The flavor is fruity, anise like, and a dry finish. The palate is fine. Overall, I've had much better Belgian seasonals.

bottled at Take One in Mestreech. Very nice dark brown color, with thick quickly diminishing beige head. Lots of fruits in the nose and in arome like plum and raisins. A bit of hops coming in too. COmpared to the earlier tasters this beer must have improved,

Alcohol and sweat in aroma. Some sweet malty notes. Roasted finish and palate. Not very interesting.

Sampled at a 2005 Christmas and Winter beer tasting at Delilahs, Chicago, IL. 2003 vintage. Hazy amber hued ale having a small diminishing head. No discernable carbonation. Sweet malt aroma. Medium bodied that starts with spicy, light sweet malt, and toffee flavors. Finishes dry with sour aftertaste. This is a good drinkable beer.

Deep brown, ruby highlights, tan head. Malty-sweet with toffee, bread crusts, figs, plumbs, juniper is on the light side, an earthy spiciness. Good winter warmer.
