Wisconsin Brewing’s Brown Robust Porter made with Barriques coffee. Blending craft beer and coffee isn’t a new idea, but getting the desired result — a coffee brew that’s smooth and flavorful from the first sip to the last drop — has remained elusive. That is, until now. #006 PORTER JOE™ is the result of a collaborative effort by WBC brewmaster Kirby Nelson and Barriques coffee master Rob Jeffries, who hit upon the perfect combination of coffee blend and brewing technique. "It’s not so much a ’secret’ as it is the combination of the right techniques and the right brews," says Kirby. "Our #003 Brown & Robust Porter is bold and flavorful. Barriques’ special blend brings a wonderful richness with no bitter coffee aftertaste. In PORTER JOE™, those two brews compliment each other naturally." So do the two companies. WBC is proud of our Badger State heritage. Barriques is an active and engaged member of the community. That’s a match made in locally-sourced heaven.

Poured a dark brown/red with a decent head that slowly faded to a nice lacing. Aromas of sweet roasted malts & coffee. Taste is similar with a roasted malt front followed by coffee and moderate hop finish. Very smooth for a coffee beer. Very nice palate. Overall, a nice strong coffee porter from the guys @ WI Brewing Co.

pours dark brown with a ruby tint. slowly forming medium tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate. Very coffee forward taste. The roasted malt shows up as well. Nice coffee linger after the finish. Good beer!

Aroma is fresh coffee, dark malts and light berries/raspberries. The flavor is fresh coffee, dark malts, raspberries/mild cherries and a slightly bitter/acidic finish.

Draught at the Wisconsin Brewing Co, Verona, WI. Dark reddish brown color with a small tan head. Filter coffee, roasted malt... and more coffee in the aroma. The flavor is pure filter coffee. I'm sorry, not my cup of tea. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Plenty of coffee aroma and flavor rolling through this guy, which is pleasing. Get a hint of dark chocolate in the aroma and flavor as well. Nice brew.

Brown pour. Mostly coffee nose with so.e brown sugar/toasted malt. A slight "green" tinge. Flavor is coffee, light cream, and some sweet toastep malt. Lingering lightly acidic coffee. Sad to say, but considering the brewery’s portfolio, looking to find something wrong with this one. However, conclusion...this is decent.

Taste of roasted coffee, chocolate malts, smooth and even a little smokey. Dark brown in color. Big roasted coffee bean aroma to the nose. Medium to full body. Nice tan head with nice lace

Craft porters are hard to do right. This one has it where it needs it! Full on, yet gentle coffee flavors await, with an clean, smooth, not bitter finish. This just became a winter fave.

Poured on tap Nitro. Beautifully cascading brown Nitro carbonation. Thick creamy pure white head. Chocolate aroma. Big chocolate flavor. The Nitro makes it creamy. Heavy full feeling. Lots of chocolate with some roasted aftertaste.

Bottle from BrookFalls Discount. Pours a root beer brown with a beige head leaving some streaky lacing. Aroma has choco/coffee, not thick enough to be espresso, with some lactose. Sweet and pleasant, if light. Taste is of sweet cocoa, coffee grounds, some caramel. All light. Medium bodied, or possibly lighter. Little alcohol presence detected. Finishes bitter and sweet and well blended between the two. Tasty, if light. 13.7
