COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wisconsin Brewing’s Brown Robust Porter made with Barriques coffee. Blending craft beer and coffee isn’t a new idea, but getting the desired result — a coffee brew that’s smooth and flavorful from the first sip to the last drop — has remained elusive. That is, until now. #006 PORTER JOE™ is the result of a collaborative effort by WBC brewmaster Kirby Nelson and Barriques coffee master Rob Jeffries, who hit upon the perfect combination of coffee blend and brewing technique. "It’s not so much a ’secret’ as it is the combination of the right techniques and the right brews," says Kirby. "Our #003 Brown & Robust Porter is bold and flavorful. Barriques’ special blend brings a wonderful richness with no bitter coffee aftertaste. In PORTER JOE™, those two brews compliment each other naturally." So do the two companies. WBC is proud of our Badger State heritage. Barriques is an active and engaged member of the community. That’s a match made in locally-sourced heaven.

Draft. Fairly dry and roasty brew, entry of coffee and I like the lower gravity treatment.

Dogbrick (14009) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - AUG 21, 2014
Sample at the tap room. Dark brown color with a medium foamy beige head that diminishes steadily to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted coffee, malt and chocolate. Light body with flavors of strong coffee, dark chocolate and malt. The finish is roasty with a coffee aftertaste. Decent overall.

rosenbergh (11871) - Tampere, FINLAND - OCT 28, 2016
Draught at the Wisconsin Brewing Co, Verona, WI. Dark reddish brown color with a small tan head. Filter coffee, roasted malt... and more coffee in the aroma. The flavor is pure filter coffee. I'm sorry, not my cup of tea. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Spuyten. Loads of delicious coffee, roasty, lightly sweet, chocolate, roasted malt, prunes, raisins. This is really damn good.

arminjewell (9720) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - APR 12, 2015
Pour on tap at the brewery, dark reddisb black pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of cocoa, roast, hints of slight earth into a bit of ash, slight dark fruit with a big hit of coffee. Taste was a mix of cocoa, caramel, toffee into a bit of ash, roast, lots of coffee, finishing slightly sweet, slightly bitter.

Ughsmash (7510) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 10, 2015
Bottled. Poured medium-deep brown with a smoked beige head. The aroma picked up semi-sweet cold cofee with some earthy and very slight vegetal character. The flavor found stale coffee grounds, light cocoa, and vanilla at the core, picking up some green coffee sourness on the finish. Light-medium bodied and a bit sharp on the palate.. this was just OK.

wlajwl (7126) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - JAN 8, 2017
Aroma is fresh coffee, dark malts and light berries/raspberries. The flavor is fresh coffee, dark malts, raspberries/mild cherries and a slightly bitter/acidic finish.

kaser (6409) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 31, 2014
Had this from draft at farmhouse in Evanston haven't heard of the brewery. Good beer. Black thick pour with sticky off white head. Expresso and nutty aroma. Heavy coffee taste but overall a smooth and easy drinking porter. Would like to try more of their beer

3.9
Skyview (6099) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - MAY 17, 2014
On draught at the new Wisconsin Brewing Company tap room in Verona, Wisconsin. Pours a clear dark brown colored brew with a fast dissipating beige head that dissipates to an off-white ring with spotty lacing. Aroma of toasted caramel and chocolate malt, some floral hops with more coffee presence than the regular robust porter. Taste is medium bodied, average carbonation with flavors of toasted chocolate malt, mocha coffee and even some Easter egg chocolate (with editable wax) presence. Finish has a short lived noble hop bitterness followed by a lingering coffee aftertaste.

Headbanger (4023) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - JUN 18, 2014
16oz draft 5/27/14 (The Town-Aurora)-Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. Taste of the same with the coffee being very prominent. This full bodied brew is well balanced and damn tasty.
