Black River Falls is in the heart of cranberry country, and this fall seasonal is a German ale brewed with real Wisconsin cranberries. Not your typical, sweet fruit beer, our Cranberry Special is well balanced with a refreshing tart finish.

Orange with a slight rosy hue. Smell is cranberry and waxiness, very similiar ot ng fruit beers. The flavor is tart, good cranberry, flaovr, light malt backing, light and refreshing. Not bad.

BCTC 2015. Pours a hazed amber with a medium sized white head. Soft malt, light oxidization, cranberry on the nose. Medium bodied, sweet, oxidization, fruit. Tart and oxidized on the finish, a bit weird.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with CaptainCougar (thanks!). Sand Creek label. Poured a medium and hazy amberish color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of cranberries, grains, and fruits. Tastes of cranberries, berries, and sugary sweet.

Bottle. Reddish amber pour. Cranberry juice on the aroma and taste. Slightly metallic. Okay.

Bottle with gooovikings in KC. Thanks Jetson! Clear, dark orange appearance with an off white. Tangy sweet, lightly tart cranberry, red fruity nose. Kind of watery, tangy, lightly tart, red fruity flavor. Bleh.

Found this one on the close out aisle. Cost a Dollar. Might have been over priced. Aroma was of an ale but with some kind of sour smelling fruit. Maybe i was cranberry, maybe not. Flavor was consistent throughout, but it was pretty bad. Can’t fault it on the mouth feel. That part was decent. There was a reason it was on the close out aisle.

Bottled. Poured a clear, rose-tinted amber with a short cap of off-white head. Nose was odd... airy, dusty artificially-sweetened cranberries.. some sweet malt, too.. Flavor picked up husky, artificially-sweetened cranberry concentrate, pale malt, and some tartness around the tongue. Short, flat, and empty finish... almost creamy across the middle. There was nothing good that I got out of this one.

Aroma is cranberry sauce, yeast and malts. The flavor is cranberries/cranberry sauce, malts, mild sweetness and a tart finish.

12 oz bottle courtesy of the infamous Binnys singles rack (Orland Park, Il). Pours a medium hazy amber pour with offwhite medium head that begins to dissipate. Aromas are tart cranberries, not sweet, with cereal maltiness and a touch of skunk. Initial is tart cranberries, light cereal sweetness, no earlier evident skunk in the brew. Light fruit sweetness, but largely a tart natural cranberry feel. Finish is more fruit apparent, leaves a touch of tartness and flavor in the aftertaste. Pretty good, surprisingly. Decent body, still light and sessionable. A little one dimensional. But, this is not as bad as people seem to think.

Now under the Sand Creek name, but still not very good. Pours bronze with a small tan fizzy head. The aroma has musty cranberries and lightly roasted malt with a cobweb character. Medium body with soft carbonation. Starts pleasant enough with some smooth cranberry and some malt. The finish unfortunately gets medicinal and tinny with the cranberry. Fair at best.
