[notes 2006]

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a slightly murky light yellow color with a large white head. The aroma is full of citrus and spice. The taste was citrus and was pretty heavily carbonated. A good witbier.

Citrus notes w/initial smell. Taste of citrus and floral, pretty clean and light finish, easy beer to drink. Good for a hot summer day.

Aroma - mostly caramel, which seems out of place. Appearance - the body is a cloudy maize, with unfiltered yeast. The head is white and about 1". Layer of small foam lays atop. Taste - caramel malt, light wheat with a slight bit of tang. Slight fruitiness. Palate - light body, suave texture, soft carbonation, slightly tangy.

commonmac (1367) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - FEB 6, 2016
Can acquired from an aunt as part of a Haskell’s beer sampler basket as a Christmas present. Poured into a snifter glass. Very light yellow in color with a healthy white head that quickly disappears from the party. Little bit of effervescence. Nose is grassy and light with lemony citrus characteristics. Taste is very light and unremarkable. There are wheat notes but muted. There are citrus notes but tame. There are elements of coriander and spices but limited. Everything seems to have been done erring on the side of not pushing the envelope in any sort of direction. It also seems to have been done in an effort to create a drinkable summery option and, in that endeavor, they have achieved a tempered level of success. This one also feels like it’s a slightly old rendition as there is a distinct metallic quality coming through reminding me of the can that now sits at the bottom of my recycling. There was a time in my life when I first starting drinking beer when this would have been right up my alley. Now, not so much.

Can. Very lemonym with notes of pineapple juice. Only subtle coriander, hence the flavour is more fruity-refreshing and less spicy. The oatmeal-induced slickness adds to the enjoyment. Very good wit.

GoufCustom (2254) - HONG KONG - DEC 28, 2015

330ml bottle bought at YATA in MOKO, Mong Kok.

Cloudy hazy very pale straw pear juice colour with a thin ring of dirt-like yeast sediments; One finger head and crumpety white foam which lasts for 90 seconds; Good sticky lacing and fizzy slight carbonation; Weak aroma of malt, with wheat, light tartness, strong coriander, light orange, light sugar, bread, earth, yeast and light citrus; Close to light sweet taste of light malt, with moderate wheat, fair tartness, coriander, traces of orange, light molasses, light spices, biscuits, yeast, thin lemon, light bitter hops and ligt herbal grass; Mid to light body, Quite dry and crisp palate; Mouth feel is lightweight standard Belgian White - light maltyness, light wheat and tartness. Otherwise herbal coriander spiceness is quite apparent. Low sweet, yeasty and a touch of citrus to round. Just okay… Hoppiness is light orange, earth and light citrus in nose and same in taste with herbal grass. Bitterness is very low for an abrupt, low-fi herbal wheaty finish; Fairly dry after taste. Very easy and crisp to mouth.

Comments: This one tastes more like an American Wheat Ale than Belgian White. It’s really light in aroma, malt and wheat is quite shallow but the coriander, herb and spices come through with every sips. Drinkable but really unspectacular.

Sample at Örebro Öl & Whisky 2015. Light spicy and yeasty. Smells like any wit. Similar taste. Light pale bread. High carbonation. Rereshing.

Lovely citrussy aroma. Light in taste. Simple but very refreshing light sourness. Perfect for food.
