Bottle. Dark brown with reddish tint color. Thin coffee brown head. Aroma of coffee, caramel, burnt toast, and ash tray. Flavor was coffee, nutty, sugary, and burnt vanilla. I get what they were trying to accomplish. I just didn’t mesh with this one. Good try, give ’em credit for that.
Aroma: chocolate and malt
Taste: creamy beer with chocolate taste and notes of malt and caramel. Decent stout

appearance: near black, silky pour, beige head, minimal lacing. aroma: coffee, chocolate, vanilla, general roast. taste: as the aroma indicates, with a slightly sweet and earthy undertone. finish: roasty, dry, smooth palate. notes: Nice. Good coffee notes without being too acidic.

Overall: A great coffee porter. Can’t believe I hadn’t rated this one. I picked up one of the last 6-packs on the shelves of the last distribution after the brand ceased operations earlier this year. A solid coffee beer that’s been consistent and consistently good each year. I’ll miss this beer.
Pretty enjoyable overall but doesn’t do anything to really stand out. Roasted coffee and chocolate aroma, light/medium body with smooth mouth feel. Taste follows nose, coffee and chocolate with subtle hints of vanilla.

Pours almost black but with beautiful garnet tones when held to the light. A medium beige head lasts long enough to provide some lacing and minor skim.
Big whiff of dark roast coffee followed by rougher cocoa nibs. After a few minutes aeration, the flavor smooths out with coffee, dark chocolate and just a hint of vanilla.
Not tremendously complex, but the light-medium body and almost creamy texture make for an enjoyable glass. Sorry to see this one go. FROMTHEBOTTLE (85) - Ontario, CANADA - DEC 30, 2015
12oz bottle. Not as dark in the glass as expected. Aromas of roast coffee and sweet ( not bitter) cocoa. All the elements are there. But something is missing. Coffee, cocoa, vanilla. Nothing too highlight. Not a bad beer, but also not a great one either. Bulk_Carrier (6064) - Vermont, USA - DEC 17, 2015
Couple sample glasses at Maple Leaf Tavern in Wilmington, VT.
The appearance was a dark brown color with a concave film of lacing around the glass.
The smell had sweet and roasty smooth coffee beans over top of delicate sweet cocoa powder.
The taste was mainly sweet through the previously mentioned flavors and lead to a nice rich sweet aftertaste running into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light allowing a silky texture all about.
Overall, what a wonderful coffee porter. Too bad, it’s getting retired. Oh well. MadRobin (2989) - Silver Spring, Maryland, USA - NOV 27, 2015
Poured from 12 oz. bottle after cellaring for a year.
Opaque, black-brown with a thin khaki head and fair lacing.
Aroma of intense roasted coffee, dark chocolate and dark toast.
Taste of strong black roasted coffee, dark chocolate, oak, toast and sweet roasted malt.
Medium/light body high/medium carbonization.
I thought the cellaring might have mellowed the strong dark coffee element, but it doesn't seem to have had much affect. Still a good beer, even if it would benefit from better balance.

Beautiful pour & great mouthfeel w/ a decent taste. Love the dark pour w/ a big tan head & lacing. Aroma is slightly roasty. Taste is a touch thin but has hints of coffee. Not quite enough bitterness or complexity to make it great but it’s highly drinkable & overall a very solid beer!
