Not bad...but not great. baobubba (454) - Starkville, Mississippi, USA - DEC 20, 2002
ReRate 12/3/2002 - After drinking this one more time I found it to be lighter than I like an IPA to be. Also noted a little nuttiness to the after taste 11/19/2002 - Little to no head. Dark golden in color. Hop aroma (citrus) accompanied by slight malt. ’Average’ flavor maybe. Bitter aftertaste. Not as hoppy as the majority of American IPAs dins (266) - Texas, USA - DEC 13, 2002
Nicely done. jazz88 (2677) - San Francisco, California, USA - NOV 14, 2002
Bottle. Dark golden color. The nose has more malts than hops and is also sweet. The flavors are floral, bitter, sweet, and hoppy. austinpowers (2828) - New York, New York, USA - OCT 15, 2002
Really more of an English IPA than American because the bitterness is subdued. Very drinkable, IMHO. Sweetness hits you at first. My mouth is still burning from the Shakemantle Ale, so I may be missing a few flavors with this Wolavers. Oh, terrific aroma, too.

June 01: Nice color, very drinkable, nothing really BAD to say about it; just unmemorable. A disappointment after their Brown Ale.
Oct 02: I was unfair to this beer, in my RateBeer infancy, as I was to many IPAs. Definitely hoppy, malt could be stronger, but has some nice apricot tinges in the nose and flavor, and the aftertaste is long and lingering. Good body. Above average IPA from an excellent brewer. Re-Rate 10/10/02: Clear amber in color, the head is beige, creamy, moderate in stature, the lace is in dense sheets upon the glass. Nose is malt, lightly floral, hints of citrus. Front is inordinately sweet, light top, the finish is moderately acidic, modestly hopped, and a tad dry, more English IPA, than American, as with the Rogue Imperial IPA, nothing to be discomfited about. Ranks #824 on my current 1000 beer list. beerguy101 (5360) - Newark, California, USA - OCT 9, 2002
Lt brown color, small head. Malty, slightly sweet, caramelized. Full bodied. Not very hoppy or bitter for an IPA. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is malty, wild a mild sharp bitterness. Hopistotle420 (1178) - Amherst, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 13, 2002
Light golden-orange hue. Whitish head, mostly diminishing. Floral hop nose. Slight spiciness. Sweetness first, nie maltiness...light to medium bodied, and a nice piney spicey hopped finish. Long lingering bitterness. Not a bad IPA. Bottled 2/12/02 JB99 (27) - Dallas, Texas, USA - AUG 12, 2002
A nice copper color with a fruit hoppy aroma very little body kind of thin on the palate well hopped but coud use more. Overall a very good IPA
