Sharp on the palate, not overly carbonated, excellent balance of malt to hops. Slight citris with a touch of floral overtones. rob99 (3) - Oregon, USA - JUN 22, 2002 does not count
I’m a major hop-head and love IPAs. This beer wasn’t what I was expecting. For an IPA, it’s not as hoppy as some and the malt flavor comes thru a little more. Maybe I’m just used to NW IPAs. But this beer is exceptional. A nice yellow-copper color. The hops don’t come through too bold, but you notice them. A nice balance between bitter and malt, nice subtle hop aroma and bold, but not strong, hop flavor. Overall a well balanced IPA that follows more the British IPA than an American. Great roasted malt character and beautiful deep copper color. Great hop flavor and aroma. A tad bit weak on the bitterness for my taste, but I’ve not yet found a beer that satisfies my craving for hops. Minimal head with some lacing. A fine IPA, and possibly a new favorite for me. UPDATED: DEC 31, 2003 Bottle: Light cloudy orange color with a large foamy head, that quickly gets thin. Bready citrus aroma, almost biscuity. Full creamy mouthfeel, rich crisp ending. Although very mild in bitterness compared to some American IPAs, this beer really captures and mixes the British and American styles. dirtymike (2016) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 29, 2003
Light copper in color with a huge white foamy head. This beer is complex.Aroma is intriguing and seems to change on several samples, as does the flavor.Citrus, bread, malt, earty, spicy, woody, roasted malt with a touch of sweetness.Long lingering hop aftertaste. This is a much better beer than I was expecting.
