Pours coffee brown with a good tan head. Aroma presents roast malt, spicy and coffee tones. Flavor delivers spicy but not too.spicy, roast malt, molasses and coffee character. Mouthfeel features good body and lively fizz. Howlin' good! drsordr (2973) - Loveland, Ohio, USA - AUG 15, 2017
Rate from notes FoBAB 2016, draft to taster pour opaque black with large tan head. Nose big cinnamon, hot chocolate, light chilies. Taste another big cinnamon bomb, light chocolate, and a pleasing burn at the end. One of my favorites from the event. I went back for more. phaleslu (10969) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 12, 2017
22 oz. bottle via trade, and shared with friends who were in town and in the mood for Mexican-style stouts. Pours a dark cocoa brown, not opaque, with amber highlights around the edges and a small tan head that settles into a thin ring. This bottle had a little age on it, and it’s become a spice bomb, with intense chiles and cinnamon. The sweeter elements take a distant backseat. There’s some underlying roasted malts and earthiness, and definitely some oak barrel influance, as well. Light-bodied, with low carbonation and a thin, spicy, roasty, earthy mouthfeel. Not what it’s meant to be. I got this one recently but need to get another one. It’s one to drink fresh, clearly. Dfonorow (2358) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 20, 2017
On tap @ FoBAB 2016. Pour is pitch black with a moderate tan head. Notes of cocoa nibs, vanilla bean, cinnamon spice, peppers, bourbon, and peat. Finish is a bit hot, but the booze and sweetness balance it out. rxeight (3344) - Illinois, USA - NOV 13, 2016
Draft at fobab. Cinnamon and spicy peppers. Of the ten or so Mexican hot chocolate stouts that were at fobab this one was probably packing the most heat. Tast stuff but probably too hot for most.

UPDATED: OCT 28, 2017 Draft to taster at FoBAB 16 from notes. Pours a dark cola brown color with a small khaki colored head. The aroma and flavor have chocolate, coffee, cinnamon, a nice amount of peppery spice, bourbon, vanilla, big flavors, but with good balance and drinkability, good body and mouthfeel, these guys are doing some solid stuff. Sample at the North Market Ohio Craft Brew Festival on 09/23/2016. This beer pours pitch black with a medium thick tan head that diminishes gradually to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Bourbon, oak, vanilla and malt aromas. Medium to full body with flavors of oaky bourbon, vanilla, roast malt and peppers. The finish is oaky with a bourbon and subtle lingering spice aftertaste. Good beer all around. JStax (7396) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - SEP 18, 2016
Draft sample at the source. The beer is a near black with a khaki head of foam. The aroma has notes of of sweet vanilla and big pepper character. Taste is moderately spicy, but the barrel notes seem to tame it a bit. I wonder how this would be if it didn’t have the sweetness of the bourbon to balance it out. Big body and medium carbonation. Pretty nice to sip, but don’t know that I would want more than 4-5 ounces at a time. seeswo (13) - Ohio, USA - FEB 7, 2016
Enjoyed on tap. This beer had a crazy good blend of barrel and the spice flavor. I was shocked how good this was. Better than most BA adjunct spiced beers out there. JaBier (8445) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - JAN 25, 2016
On tap at the Barrel-Aged Dire Wolf bottle sale on 1/23/16. Black pour with a medium tan head. Aroma of cinnamon, chocolate and slight bourbon. Malty flavor with cinnamon and chocolate along with slight pepper heat before a mild bourbon finish.
