Frisch vom Fass in den Krug auf dem Annafest in Forchheim. In der Nase etwas säuerlich. Dann leicht fruchtig herb. Hier tritt der Malzkörper deutlich zurück.

(bottle) clear deep golden colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of caramelized malt, light floral hops and earth, slightly oxidized, with a hint of yeast. flavour is quite earthy and vegetal, with some alcohol, pale malts and dog’s breath. medium- to heavy-bodied with average carbonation.

bottle from landbierparadies. golden with a minimal head; aroma of hay and sweet popcorn; slightly sweaty malt character, light tinny bitterness. no doubt much better at anna-fest than the version i tried

On tap at the Annafest, Forchheim, Germany. Pours a light brown/orange, color and with a lacing off-white head. Soft malty aroma. Taste is a light spice with caramel, malt and with nice lightly spiced hops. Palate is with a nice caramel, light spiced lingering flavor.

50 cl bottle. Rated on 20.09.2010
Orange colour and small head. Flavour has sweetish malt and some raw apple. Flavour has butter and sweetish malt with hints of grain. Drinkable, not the most typical märzen.

(Rating #3823)

My Bottom Line :
Subtly caramelized cereals are brushed by herbal, peppery hops in this full-bodied, sugary festbier.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-Plenty of foam tops the krug, later revealing to be covering an amber-coloured brew.
-I would have preferred more hop presence in this brew.
-The soft carbonation helps drinkability, but the doughy sugars do the contrary.
-The finish is too easygoing for my tastes. Makes for a forgettable brew.
-This wasn’t bad by any means, but it wasn’t one of the best Annafestbiers at all.

On tap at Annafest.

0.5 l bottle. Golden to copper color. Sweetish malty and bready aroma with toffee. Malty toffeish and bready flavor with some caramel and bitterness in finish. Fairly simple märtzen.

Bottled. Deep coppery golden colour with small white head. Aroma is pleasant wood, caramel malts, also other sweetish malts along with some slight underlying fruityness.Flavour is caramel malts, some wooden notes as well as mild spicyness. Quite britter finish.

Bottled (BB 09/2009)
Clear amber color, small mostly vanishing white head. Roasted caramel, grassy hops in the nose. Caramelly, grainy, grassy hoppy. Aftertaste has some bitterness. Mix of sweet and hoppy. A bit off.
