2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 6/20
UPDATED: NOV 14, 2010 500 ml bottle into tulip. Pours pale straw, somewhat hazy effervescent body topped by meringue white, rather short lived head.
Aroma is sour & fruity with flowery character, barnyard funk and light malty sweetness penetrating through.
Showing less diversity than the aroma profile, flavor is dominated by lemony sourness with salty sensation (probably due to acidity) and some vinegar. The multilayered sourness doesn’t seem to be derived solely from addition of Lactobacillus. No malts or hoppy bitterness to speak of. Light bodied, highly carbonated and dry the beer is almost champagne like and lively on the palate. Not to my liking but nicely matching the requirements of the style.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
50cl bottle from Bierkompass.de. Probably the ugliest label I have seen. Poured hazy, almost yellow color with a thin white head. Sour lemon aroma, spices. Flavor is salty and soury, baking soda perhaps or alike, very strange. Still something fascinating about it. High carbonation. My first Berliner Weisse. I think there are better ones out there. Just have to wait and see.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(bottle) pours a hazy yellow colour with a billowing white head. initial aroma exclusively of lactic acid, quite harsh, with some gueuze-like notes of citrus fruits, barnyard funk and light cherries behind that. flavour is the same, with a medium citric sourness, some light notes of grain and a huge medicinal bready finish. light-bodied with lively carbonation.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Bierboutique Ölwechsel, Frankfurt. 4.5% ABV. Cloudy yellow with a fast disappearing head and some big particles floating around. Refreshing lemony acidity as well as some brettanomyces. Quite acidic, hints of brettanomyces, quite a bit of lemon. Highly interesting and thirst-quenching.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled 500ml. -Trade with shrubber85 (thanks Roger!). Murky yellow coloured, small white head that went away fast, sharp acidic nose. The taste is also sharp acidic, yeasty and lemony with touch of barnyard near the end. Very refreshing and deadly drinkable beer.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle received in a trade with shrubber85 (thanks!), shared with ogivlado.
Poured a pale, dull murky yellow body with a small-medium white head that went away at a medium-fast pace.
Acidic sharpish nose, bit malty, funky.Whoa, I didn’t know this was a Berliner Weisse! Nice refreshing acidic taste with some dry, noticeable malty notes, bit berryish. Refreshing. The acidity attacks the tongue. This is certainly a surprise. Quite balanced and drinkable for what it is. Some herbal and dry cracker notes in the finish counter the acidity and make this probably the best BW I’ve had!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
500 ml bottle. 4.5%. From Germany (bierkompass.de).
Hazy yellow colour with small white head.
Sour lemony citrus aroma with baking soda and medicine (of some kind?).
Flavour is as demanding as the flavour. Sour lemony citrusy flavour. Quite fizzy. This is quite hardcore. Label is printed in very lo-fi style.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle, thx to Koelschtrinker. It’s a gusher, producing a milky yellow body under a big, rapidly diminishing, pillowy white head. The aroma is quite pleasant with cellar and lemon. Lemon sodapop, notes of cellar, a salty touch and some barnyard notes in the mouth. Medium to thin body, astringent mouthfeel. A really nice surprise, and very quenching. 091230
