Bottle, thanks to Roman. It pours hazy straw yellow with a small fizzy white head. The nose is dough, lemon juice, musty, farmyard, vinegar, sour yoghurt, lightly smoked cheese, caramelised banana and a touch of underlying sweetness. The taste is sour lemon, sherbet, tart green apple, moderate acidity, citric, cheap white wine, lactic acid, yoghurt and pickled onion monster munch with a dry finish. Light body and high, prickly carbonation. A very interesting beverage indeed. Very refreshing and enjoyable. jcwattsrugger (12559) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - OCT 14, 2013

Aroma: lactobacillus, very weak smoked notes, sour.
Appearance: hazy straw color, nice white head.
Taste: smoked notes (like bonfire), sourness, cloves, thin malty backbone.
Palate: low body and high carbonation, smoked finish.
Overall: Probably the last traditional lichtenhainer. Really good stuff. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - DEC 13, 2009

Bottle shared by ygtbsm94 on 12/13/09: Pours a hazy pale golden with a stringy-lacing white head. Very sour funky lemon nose has some horseblanket and grassy fruity notes. Starts with pretty good effervescent fullness and lemon citrus tartness with a dry funky finish. Very crisp, tart and enjoyable. Very true to style.

Bottled 500ml. -Trade with shrubber85 (thanks Roger!). Murky yellow coloured, small white head that went away fast, sharp acidic nose. The taste is also sharp acidic, yeasty and lemony with touch of barnyard near the end. Very refreshing and deadly drinkable beer. oh6gdx (26485) - Vasa, FINLAND - MAY 19, 2011
Bottled (thanks B.U., tasted at 2nd CS/ES beerevening). Hazy yellowish golden colour with a mediumsized white creamy/foamy head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is bananas, wheat, mild spices, some sourness as well as mild earthy notes. Flavour is rather similar along with some yeastyness and spicyness. Pours hazy golden color with small head. Aroma of wheat and banana. Flavor of wheat, yeast, banana and spices.
Tolles alt aussehendes Etikett.

Here we have the world’s last remaining commercial Lichtenhainer (should we just call it a Wöllnitzer at this point?), and in brief, it’s a mild Berliner Weisse. Tap in Wöllnitz at the Talschänke after a bit of a trek on a warm summer day. Hazy bright banana-yellow with a rocky bright white head. Lightly sour, wheaten nose, taste is similar, light and wheaty with a touch of spice and some light apple juice. The sourness is subtle to the point that many laymen would not mention unless prompted. Medium body. Not out-of-this world, but clean and super, super refreshing (tasted like 2.5-3%, though the bottles for takeaway had it at 4% even). After a while, really started to pick out the lemon and black currant notes, clear as Skittles day. Solid.
