Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a somewhat dark amber color with a small off white foamy head. Mild dissipation and left some messy lace.
The aroma had some grainy sweetness, light toffee. Some grassy semi-bitter hops, but fairly delicate with some citrusy effects.
The flavor had a sturdy bitterness coming about somewhat pulling down that grainy sweetness. Mild aftertaste of the same with a semi-sticky sweet finish.
The feel was about medium bodied, perhaps just a touch under with a decent sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine.
Overall, India pale lager? I guess. Would I have this again? Maybe when I’m back in Michigan. But nothing to seek and destroy on a daily basis. smroush (299) - Michigan, USA - OCT 20, 2016
Aromas heavy on the malt - caramel, grain, cereal and toffee. Hops are heavy though hard to pin down - a bit of orange flavor!
Color is a fairly dark amber, though a bit more on the reddish side; clear - no particulates. The head is small and off-white.
Taste is moderately sweet and moderate to heavily bitter. Nice balance. Some power (and alcohol).
Body is medium; carbonation average; finish is average.
Overall one of the best Wolverine beers I have had - I really like the nice hops/malt balance.

tap at 2016 michigan winter beer festival. Golden with one finger head. Medium body, strong hoppiness with both pine and citrus, lagery crisp finish. deyholla (12205) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - DEC 23, 2014
On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazy amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a good amount of grass with a touch of pine and a light crisp grain backing. Flavor has resin and sweet grains throughout with underlying caramel and pine. Pailhead (6543) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - OCT 26, 2014
On tap: The aroma consists of huge candied orange, citrus, grapefruit, and caramel. It’s a hazy orangish-brown with a small beige head. The flavor starts with moderate-heavy candied orange and caramel. The finish has has moderate pine, grapefruit, and wood. It’s medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, it’s like a IIPA that has too much caramel.

UPDATED: NOV 5, 2014 Tap @ Wolverine State: Bright, beaming copper body with rusty amber outlining the edges. The beige head is reduced to a thin collar in just moments. Gushing aroma of candied grapefruit & orange flesh sprinkled with freshly cut grass. Nice citrus element with some honey-like sweetness & a touch of malt that’s just shy of caramel. Smells like a fruit smoothie. Flavor of sugar coated grapefruit rinds with a light, fleshy sweetness traveling beneath it. It’s got that dextrose, almost saccharine sweetness to it, but it stops just shy of being overbearing or cloying. Balanced nicely by the abundance of pine & bitter citrus peel flavors. Back-end has more of a tropical side, too, with some pineapple & tangerine zest coming into play. A bit of caramel malt with a lingering flavor of toffee & grapefruit candy in the finish. Somewhat sticky body. Based on other reviews, I’m am shocked at how much I enjoyed this. Perhaps they perfected the recipe? Really, really good stuff. hopdog (13102) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 30, 2013
On tap at the Wolverine tasting room. Poured a golden color with a small sized head. Citrus, some fruitiness, and some grassy/floral hops. Overall the alcohol well hidden. umich03jm (3512) - Flat Rock, Michigan, USA - NOV 12, 2013
UPDATED: FEB 11, 2015 Sample draft at the brewery. Pours a hazy amber/gold color with a small head that fades to a ring and leaves nice webbing. Aroma is very dank and sweet citrus fruit. Getting oranges, grapefruit, apples, and pineapple. Taste is juicy citrus fruit but there a weird off-flavor. No idea how to describe it, I guess you could call it chemical like the last reviewer. Bitter finish. Thick and a bit syrupy. Great aroma, not a great taste. Re-rate 2/11/15 - Better than I remember. It still tastes strong and sweeter than I like my DIPA’s but the chemical flavor is gone. It’s now a nice mix of caramel and candied citrus. Moderately sweet up front, light bitterness in the finish. On tap at the brewery. Slight hoppy aroma. Tastes slightly sweet and syrupy with a chemical like aftertaste. Not too bitter. Really not well incorporated. mikem409 (2029) - bloomfield, Michigan, USA - OCT 11, 2012
