12 ox bottle pours a cola brown/opaque black with moderate beige head and good lacing. Aroma is pretty much as expected for a black IPA; lots of roasted malts, citrus and piney hops, a bit of coffee, but also some earthy funkiness (peat?). Taste is sligthly bitter. Body is medium with lively carbonation and a slightly sticky mouthfeel. Easy to finish - I wish this had lasted longer. Not a great black IPA, but a good one from this tiny brewery. esjaygee (3904) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 1, 2013
Muddy brown with a medium brown creamy head. Aroma of dark roasted malts, light pine, mild coffee along with some peaty and earthy notes. Taste is earthy and peaty as well with malt and mild citrus. Hop presence is rather low for a black IPA leading to low bitterness but probably the best woodman brew I’ve had to date.
