Toronado, Seattle. Thick cream, amber brown body. Light chocolate and smoke malt. Creamy milk chocolate. Green hops in distance sharpen it out some, with plain bitterness. A bit creamy. Not bad.

Bottle at the Zoo. Pours a clear amber color with a medium white head. A big malty floral nose. The flavor is sweet, toast, caramel, light perfume. Pretty nice.

This beer was confusing in that it was not discernibly winter ale like in style. Aroma and taste were pleasant and hoppy. Just an ok beer overall though.

Pours a chill-hazed gold off the tap with light off-white head. Aroma of big citrus hops. Tastes like a good hoppy pale. The booze is well hidden and it doesn’t taste like a winter ale at all. Meh.

Bottle from 2014, picked up on sale for $1.99 on Halloween ’15. Pours an amber color with light ruby tones, topped with a flimsy beige head and spotty lacing. The nose is sweet with citrus, faded citrus hops, vanilla, caramel, and what I associate most with red licorice. Taste is lightly sweet up front, finishes with moderate floral bitters. Just a hint of oxidation. Soft mouthfeel. Feelin’ pretty good about rolling the dice on this year-old bottle as it turned out to be a winner in my book.

Bottle. Colour...golden amber with a thick white head. Nose...thick with husky musky hops and tropical fruit. Palate...dry, dusty hops with hay and bent grass. There’s some hoppy bitterness and a smidge of sweetness before the dry finish.

650ml bottle pours amber in color with a 2 finger white head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel with some citrus and pine notes. Taste is a bold caramel malty sweetness with a good citrus and pine hop bitterness. Light to medium bodied with decent carbonation. A solid winter ale even works in the middle of summer. Good stuff!

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Hazy amber color. Pumped up Amber Ale, quite good caramel flavor, some hop resins and orange peel, good bitterness level.
Nice.

Amber in color, clear with a thick head. Big alcohol aroma and flavor. Lots of malts and hops finish. Very good strong ale.
