Dunkelweiss is a dark German wheat beer. Ours is made with Dark Wheat and Munich malts. Medium bodied and easy drinking with some malty sweet notes. Pairs excellent with our Brat plate! Prost!

Appearance: muddy dark brown, fine off white head
Aroma: sweet chocolate and banana aroma
Flavor: rich chocolate flavor, sweet banana enrichens the chocolate, just a touch of balancing clove
Overall: I love a brewpub dunkleweizen where unlike a commercial brewery it is made before the yeast poops out from making hefeweizen all summer

Comes out of the tap a barely translucent mahogany with a thick, fine-bubbled beige head. Rich aroma is fruity, malty and just a little spicy, the latter mainly cloves. Mouth-filling flavor has banana, apple, malty and caramel notes with just a hint of cloves. Firm-bodied texture is fairly fizzy and leaves a fruity, tingly finish.

Appearance: Very dark mahogany-hued body, quite hazy, and underneath a thin layer of fine, off-white foam.

Smell: Sniffing up some dark bready malts with accents of toast and dark malted wheat with supporting, amiable notes smelling of ’nana, ripe grapes, spice, and chocolate.

Taste: An upfront dark breadiness with a slight undertone of chocolate and a bit of dark caramel. Some wheat tanginess present. Mildly sweet and it doesn’t last particularly long, either, as it quickly begins drying out. Light touch of banana along with a hint of grape. Very subtle herbal hops join up with the spicy phenols. Drying finish with a final hint of toasted wheat.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-light carbonation.

Overall: Pretty good for a dunkelweiss.

On tap at the brewpub. The beers here have gotten much more true to form and are very well made. Nice sweetness here balanced with an incredible malt body and chewy grain. A touch of raisin and dark fruit. Color is a beautiful ruby.
