Appearance: It’s got a hazy, deep, dark amber-hued body with nil head, but, one: it’s high alcohol, though I assume it’s because, two: it’s being served an a small, small glass (three ounces, I believe).
Smell: Heavy scent of toast, heady aroma of stewed, sugar-dosed fruits bubbling away on the stove top marked with notes of (light) alcohol and finely-ground spices.
Taste: A start of sweet sugar, but also dark brown sugar with a toasty taste of bread crusts dotted with fruity accents of sultanas, dried apricot, peach, and a little apple. There’s some peppery alcohol present, but here it’s actually rather well-integrated. Fleeting hints of spice, herb. Sweetish, lightly sticky, satisfyingly warming finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-low carbonation. The mouthfeel is both sticky and smooth.
Overall: This one’s quite nice. I’d happily stroke out at the table knowing this was my final beer.
