Draft. Part of the RIS flight during Anniversary Weekend. I was sad to miss out on the Four Roses edition but this was very lovely. Dark roasted malts, heavy chocolate, but the bourbon takes center stage. Massive vanilla, booze, rich caramel, some spiciness. Loved it and probably the best of the flight of 5. I can still taste it.

Dark Chocolate and roast coffee meld with the vanilla and sweet alcohol.
Opaque black/brown with fine tan head.
Flavor mimics the aroma. Starts Dark Chocolate and Roast, then the bourbon hits the tongue with balancing sweetness. Some bittering hops, but not in the flavor.
Full Body, creamy and smooth. Low carbonation lets the flavor shine. No astringency.
Very flavorful and well balanced RIS with restrained use of the bourbon barrel. I’ll have another please.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a cascading dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of warming bourbon with some dark grains, roasted malts and bitter chocolate. Flavor has a good amount of chocolate and sweet dark grains with a growing roasted malt note and a decent amount of bourbon in the finish.
