Bottle on the train to Munchen, 15/07/17. Very light haze on a golden pour with a decent white head. Nose is lemon rinds, straw, grains, grassy. Taste comprises pale malts, bread dough, lemon drizzle, hint of vanilla, grains, straw. Medium bodied, fine to spritzy carbonation, semi drying close. Ok but a fair drop off from the draft Zoigl offerings.

Bottle. Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of citrus, fruits, grassy, some decent malty charater, notes of minerals. Taste is grains, grass, citrus, fruits, mellow but decent balanced. Decent stuff

50cl bb06/2017, Edeka Tirschenreuth. - A gentrified, purified, filtered Keller of sorts, Würth capitalises on the Zoigl cult of the last 10 years by bottling this fair enough, hoppy Keller with a thin, bready malt base. Distinctly grassy and nettle-green, if fresh in aroma. Accents of sweet almond, barley husk sulphurs. Basic, if balanced in flavour, with a sweet yeasty touch. The best of the bottled Würth range, which is where real Eschawo Zoigl sets in and takes over...

Bottle, my 100th Zwickel/Keller/Landbier. Just slightly hazy golden color with nice white head. Aroma is grainy, bready, malts, some diapers. Taste is grainy malts, some sulphuric flavours, bready. Low carbonation, but still refreshing. Quite nice!

50cl swing top bottle. Pour almost clear pale golden colour with a huge good lasting white head. Aroma of dry and grainy pale malt. Taste of grainy malt, mild floral hops, some fruits, nice!

Terrible zoigl... definately too much hops for such a beer. Also too filtered. Not recommended.

TAR (2760) - Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina, USA - DEC 27, 2015
UPDATED: DEC 28, 2015 Bottle best by Mar. 16, 2016: Golden in color with minimal haze. Creamy but nonuniform head. Clean but simple nose of minerals, lemon, hay, baguette and piecrust. Loose carbonation. Thinnish body. Initially toasty with fairly vibrant pils malt which distributes a profusion of baguette and hay notes underscored by deeper cookie accents. Malt takes on a grassy hay dimension which echoes the grassy hop aspects. Lemony splash of well-integrated hops ensues, though a noticeable waxiness as well as an intrusive slickness negates much of the hoppy brightness. Lemon, hay and vague toast encompass the basic but mostly clean finish. It’s nice to see that this brewery is actually trying rather than simply exploiting the word "zoigl" for monetary purposes, like so many other charlatans are doing with their fraudulent bottled product. No obvious off notes found here, but it certainly doesn’t possess the character that you’ll encounter in most of the stuff produced at the kommunbrauhauses, nor does it exhibit the depth of character found in their Dunkles Zoigl. Tastes more like Franconia than Oberpfalz, but it’s still an enjoyable lager.

Cloudy golden with a medium off white head. Sweet malty aroma with hint of grainy notes.A bit too sweet, but I love it.

Moravius (1289) - Pyongyang, NORTH KOREA - JUN 2, 2015
