Cask; special for Wetherspoons Spring 2014 International Real Ale Festival. This brewery was rated (by Ratebeer.com, in 2010) the third best brewery in the world. Wayne Wambles has travelled to Wychwood Brewery, in Oxfordshire, to brew this beer especially for this Wetherspoon real-ale festival. This beer’s combination of hops provides orange and tropical fruit notes, with hints of pine and grapefruit, balanced by an underlying toasted malt and caramel flavour. Hops used: Centennial, Citra, Columbus, Mosaic, Summit

Cask conditioned handpump Cuthbert Brodrick Leeds 14/04/14. A golden coloured beer with a tight white head and lace. A nice hoppy beer with good tropical fruits. There is a definite house yeasty note which is a shame. It is nice but could have been better.

Cask at the Hope Tap, Reading. Clear pale copper with a moderate white head. Lots of orange and lightly roasted malt up front- we’re talking proper marmalade on toast territory here, really getting the toast. There’s a little grapefruit and mango and pine and smoke in the background, but it keeps coming back to that toast. Lovely smooth yet foamy mouthfeel too. Loved this- a strong contender for best beer of the festival. Just beats the Adnams Gunnamatta for me.

4/4/14 Cask pours a deep amber ale with an off-white head that lasted half way down. Aroma, quite a fragrant floral one sweet fruity. Taste clean juicy fruit flavour, oddly appealing soapy element, hoppy, nice session ale.

Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. Golden amber with a thin cream head that leaves lots of lacing on the glass; piney aroma; rather thin in the mouth with a short burst of fruit; than a dry, crisp and clean finish with some lingering sweet biscuit.
