Pours a clear, dark amber. A tall beige head remains for a while before disappearing and leaving behind a fair amount of lacing. Aroma of dried cherries, faint alcohol, grassiness, and a bit of pine. Taste is more in line with the style--sweetness from malts has a rye bread character, followed by a bit a toffee. Flavor becomes more bitter and astringent toward end as hops become more pronounced. Mouthfeel is just slightly chewy, with a light hint of carbonation. A great beer that offers some depth and complexity while remaining true to an established style.

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2018 Bottiglia 50 cL. Buona schiuma bianca, fine, irregolare e poco persistente. Al naso caramello e note tostate. In bocca idem: malti tostati, caramello e frutta secca in lontananza. Retrogusto amarognolo non particolarmente invadente e persistente. Una piacevole scoperta.

UPDATED: JAN 23, 2018 Bottle at home. Dark amber, beige creamy head. Caramel malty, maltbitter, English hops, easily drinkable but still quite good bodied, light bitterness in the finish. Pleasant!

BojanM (54) - Banja Luka, BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA - JAN 17, 2018
Tamno crvena boja, debela smedja pjena, veoma lijepo za oko. Arome nisu mnogo izrazene, pomalo kafa, cokolada i sušeno voće. Vema blage gočine i karbonizacije, vodene teksture.

An average beer, not amazed by it at all. But drinkable, nice. Pale, chocolate aroma, light body, light foam....

While enjoying discovering beers from this brewery, this one described as ruby red ale, where I would hope for an amber or scotch ale, ESB is not my cup of tea.

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2018 Une superbe bière brune qui dévoile des saveurs de malt torréfié, de café et de houblon. J'ai adoré.
