From cask. Pours clear and golden amber with a lacing small and off-white head. Spiced and slight herbal with a base of roasted malt in the aroma. Butterish and dry with a distinct malty base flavour. Ends medium dry and bitter.

Cask at GBBF 2006. A red-brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, but also with light roasted notes. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel, and a light acidity. The mouthfeel is cask flat.

Cask at the Crown Rivers, LHR T5, 18/05/13. Clear chestnut brown with a good sized bubbly light beige head. Nose is malt forward, dark berry fruit, toffee fudge. Taste comprises toffee, dark malt, berry fruits, dates, light sugars. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, bitter notes in the finish. Not had this for maybe 10 years or so and had always edged away from it having held bad memories. However, when in good condition, this is a very drinkable beer, or perhaps it was because it was 6.50 in the morning and I’d had 4 hours sleep ! No - it was OK stuff to be fair!

Cask at Hobgoblin Cantebury. This yeasty nose, some malt and thin finish. Not at its best

Dark brown color, small beige head. Aroma has toffee and some toasted sugars. Light, almost watery palate. Low carbonation. Light toffee sweetness. Light leafy hoppy finish, otherwise quite low bitterness. Bland, with Indian food ok?
