Nose of caramel malts and hops; Light brown with a small off-white head; flavor of a little caramel and hops with a decent bitter hops finish.

Dark amber color with a beige head.
Caramel and hops aroma.
Quite drinkable, although nothing special or remarkable about this beer.

This beer was a major dissapointment. It pours a dark color, but is much lighter when held up to the light. The aroma and flavor are in the same category--pretty much non-existent. I thought this tasted like carbonated water, with a little bit of hops thrown in. The mouthfeel is incredibly thin to boot. Not worth the $6 in my opinion."

Hmmm the Hobgoblin as interesting and profound as it may seem left me disinterestred. I got concerened when i had absolutley no head on the pour. A weird combination for citrius and bitter chocolate.

Bottle, 500ml. A dark amber-coloured pour with an average diminishing head. Musty citrus aromas. A somewhat sweet malty taste with chocolate and biscuity hints. A nice moderate bitter finish with burnt notes. Some acidity. Medium carbonation. Nice, but not unique.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice enough beer to look at, dark brown with a splotchy/bubbly creme coloured head.
Aroma for me is very very light..malty, least its not horrible.
Flavour is malty and slightly fruity, slight hopping, doesnt have they typical flavoursome tastes that most Englishh made ESBs have..its quite dull really.
Palte is alright..nothing to write home about.
Its drinkable but I am very dissapointed ..for me the Fiddlers Elbow was better and $2 a bottle cheaper. I will stick to Black Sheep for my English beer drinking pleasure up here in Salem.

500ml Bottle: This one was a surprise for me, I wasnít expecting to enjoy it so much. Highly pleasing aroma of chocolate, toffee, and caramel; Glade should make an air freshener out of this. Pours amber with a decent head that, while it reduced, never went all the way away. Flavour is excellent, complex, with elements of fruit, chocolate, caramel, malt, and a hint of hops underneath. Smooth and pleasant, only light carbonated. Highly recommended.

Aroma was yeasty and sweet malty. Flavor was a wonderful balance of malts and hops. Another fine beer from the UK.

Nutty gassy/ petillante, which is a bit of a cheat on mouthfeel; dark with a very long bitter finish. Fizz had gone by the end of the jar leaving nothing in the mouth.
