We conducted a blind taste test with this beer and 5 other brown ales to objectively determine which one was best. The 5 beers were: Samuel Smith’s Nut Brown Ale, Lost Coast Downtown Brown, Big Sky Moose Drool, Newcastle Brown, and Wychwood Hobgoblin. You can view the video here: http://youtu.be/oz0hSSylY70

I tried this after a pilsner urquell and honestly couldn’t taste much more than malt. It poured a clear copper, with a full white head. Taste is malt and caramel with a mild spicy hoppiness. I can’t say for sure what I thought of this so I will have to review this again.

A bottle with fish and chips for lunch, at ’Britshake’ in Danshui. Aroma: very fruity, plums in particular. Appearance: poured into a shaker, tremendous rocky tan head. The deepest dark brown in colour. Palate: medium-bodied, though a little thin. lightly carbonated; a long finish with sour notes well-balanced with the bitter. Taste: peppery, the alcohol makes its presence known, some iron in there too. A very respectable beverage, and an ideal drink for this occasion.

Corpo medio, mediamente carbonata.

UPDATED: NOV 4, 2016 Bottle, From memory(s). Dark brown colour. The recipe has changed over the years, but i find the bottled version of this beer overly thin, stale and having a short lived flavour. Some middle of the road roasty flavour, toffee, malty but rather average.
