We conducted a blind taste test with this beer and 5 other brown ales to objectively determine which one was best. The 5 beers were: Samuel Smith’s Nut Brown Ale, Lost Coast Downtown Brown, Big Sky Moose Drool, Newcastle Brown, and Wychwood Hobgoblin. You can view the video here: http://youtu.be/oz0hSSylY70

Mahogany/amber color with a thin white head. Medium body, medium carbonation, almost no lacing. Malty and fruity aroma of pear, plum, banana, biscuits, caramel, toffee, wood, herbs, some honey and molasses. Taste of caramel, plum, apples, raisin (and other dark fruits), malts, hay, hops, biscuits, butterscotch, chocolate, herbs, some strawberry and vanilla. Mild, yet nice aftertaste. Pleasant one.

UPDATED: NOV 6, 2017 Colour brown to dark red. Nice smell of berries. In taste caramel, raspberries, blackcurrant, transforming into alcohol in finish. Drinkable, sweet, nice.

Bottle of 50cl, in a Trappist glass; from the fridge. Common English beer, nor good nor bad. Brown colour with a sweet chocolate taste. It didn't really match my tastes... Try it ?

Dark amber with firm head. Nose is malty with herbal notes and some juniper. Taste is also light herbal and still the berries but accentuated with hops. Palate short but nice.

Aus der Flasche (Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead Limited Edition) im 2017-10 getrunken. Klassisches ESB mit sher runden Malz- und leichten Fruchtaromen. Der Körper ist kräftig ohne aber aufdringlich zu sein. Lecker!

From 2007 Purchased at Liquor Shed in Casper for US$10.45 a 6pack. This pours from 12oz brown bottle a dark amber bordering on brown with a good 1 finger head of foam and it has some good lacing. The smell is of caramel and roasted malt and there's some fruit going on there as well....nice nose. The taste is a nice big load of caramel malt up front...very tasty. After another sip, I get a touch of roasted malt, a healthy biscuit presence, and a surprising amount of fruit...especially when I swish it in my mouth. Cherries, some fig, a little bit of citrus. Very tasty indeed. I've had this before so it comes as no surprise that I'll probably end up giving it a good review. lol Bottom line: This is a tasty brew....more flavours than I'd expect from a typical English Brown Ale and they work well together. At least to my palate. Will I buy this again? It looks pretty in the glass, has a good inviting nose, is very flavourful, has a good mouthfeel, and is pretty darned drinkable...yep. I sure will.

mickaellataze (31) - - OCT 30, 2017
UPDATED: OCT 30, 2017 bière ambrée, peu de mousse, faible carbonation, goût de malts grillés, chocolat amer, réglisse et résine. assez peu de corps rapide en bouche.

Nikokaoja (382) - Ljubljana, SLOVENIA - OCT 30, 2017
UPDATED: OCT 30, 2017 30. 10. 2017, Klimno. Bottled in limited edition day if the dead bottle. Amber colour with smaller head with some retention. Aroma is present but easy on the nostrils. Taste is somewhat malty sweet at start, a bit bitter in finish and also a bit tart in the aftertaste. More complex than it seems at first, but could also be improved further.
