Thanks to Seanyfo for this beer! copper in the glass, nose of dark fruit and caramel. The beer starts intense, caramel, roasted and slightly sweet. A bitter taste comes to the beer in the mainpart, nicely harmonising, brown sugar, caramel, molasses. The aftertaste gets more bitter, only slightly sweet now, warming alcohol, very nice balanced roasted, not too sweet.

Brown pour, beige head. Aroma is nutty, malty, mild sweetness. Flavor is more of the same, soft bready sweetness, spice. Cunningham (8526) - Halden, NORWAY - JAN 6, 2014
Appearance: Clear dark nutty brown color with a finger thick off white head. Ok lacing.Aurelius (5652) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JAN 4, 2014
Aroma: Caramel malty, rich fruity and mild hoppy.
Palate: Medium + body. A bit sweet and a mild bitterness. Average carbonation.
Taste: Toffee, malty, pleasant fruity and mild hoppy.
Overall impression: Tasty and nice ale.
Personal stats: Bottle from an off licence in Liverpool, England
Fruity (cooked raisins, prunes), peaty UKPA aroma. Cloudy, medium walnut-wood color, white filmy head. Good embossed brown bottle, OK label. A tangy fruitiness up front, medium sweetness, implied ginger perhaps, a bit leathery. Medium bittering, light astringency, and a lingering non-resinous, non-fruity hop. Medium body, peppery-prickly mouthfeel, slightly warming. Eventually, it had a citric acid sort of fruitiness at the very end. This had some promise, stumbled a bit in the execution. 500ml bottle from the LCBO. Pours a very clear medium copper colour with a small off white head that leaves a bit of film. Nose is fruit and caramel. Quite sweet caramel start with a mild bitter finish. Mouth is on the light side of medium and a bit thin with soft carbonation. Some interesting subtleties and easy drinking.

A nice light copper color and light head. Very nice nutty aroma that is not too overpowering. Somewhat sweet caramelike taste at the front with a very mild only slightly bitter finish. Not over hopped. Sweeter than I normally like but this is very well balanced. Very nice beer for a cold evening.

500ml Bottle: BBD 31 Jul 14, poured (twice) into a La Chouffe stemmed tulip at home on 29 Dec 13.
Lovely light ruby red hue to the amber brown body: clear and clean looking, on top of each pour sat a creamy foam that gave good lacing.
Caramel, toffee and all the other malty molasses combine in the aroma to give a rich and sweet nose to the beer.
The taste follows, but it isn’t as sweet s the smell indicates, this is more complex than just a sweet malty brew. The hops may well be hiding but they still give the beer a little balance and a mini bitterness towards the end of each sip.
Good feel to this beer: I make no secret about my preference towards malty, sweeter brews and this sits right in that slot for me. If this was brewed by some fancy Dan brewery people would be pontificating about it for ages, well they should do so even if it’s from a Marston’s subsidiary like Wychwood. Clear light amber body with a well lasting light tan head that leaves a little lacing. Nose is mild withsome floral notes and lots of caramel. Taste starts off with a lovely caramelly sweetness that is followed by the bitter aftertaste that leads to a mildly bitter finish. Carbonation is on the soft side and the palate is fairly thin but still nicely in balance. Overall quite nice but could use a little more aroma hops. Very nice beer. It is balanced and a little bit sweet before the biterness took place. neur0 (1445) - Hannover, GERMANY - DEC 21, 2013
