COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mainly available bottle conditioned. Occasionally available on cask.
The fields of barley ripening in the sunshine; the hops climbing up the bines in late summer... It was sights like these that inspired Dorothy to create her Country Ale.
Made with all-natural ingredients, it’s a must for any discerning drinker who savours the summer and cares about the countryside.
This strong, full-bodied ruby ale can be enjoyed on its own or as a partner to red meat dishes, cheeses and even rich steamed puddings.

Honey, cardboard, toffee malt, and straw aroma. Dark amber with moderate head. Moderately sweet toffee malt and moderately bitter herbal hay flavor. Nice body. Good - wish I could have had a fresher bottle though.

Bottle - heavy carbonation, light brown with small head. Fairly strong hoppy aroma. Ting on tongue and in mouth. Strong tasting, full bodied, bitter finish - strong aftertaste.

Amber haze colour with creamy white head. Visualy medium carbonation. Aroma without notice of an alcohol:you can detect fruity-floral notes with sweetness of malts. Taste is the same, finish slightly dry. Malt sweetness is medium, also hop bitterness. Proper beer for its style.

The body has a deep amber color with a burnt orange to reddish highlight. It has tons of visible carbonation rushing up to its thick and creamy head. The tightly packed off white head leaves lots of cool lace patterns and rings on the glass. It’s malty and sweet with notes of caramel and toffee. Underneath the maltiness is a mild dried leafy/herbal and slightly mineral like hop presence. Meeting on the tongue are wonderful malty bready notes with hints of bready yeast, caramel and toffee with mellow fruitiness. Light leafy and herbal hops add a pleasant balance of mild bitterness to the finish. Its mouth feel is a solid medium to full and smooth as silk with mellow carbonation.

Barely any aroma. If anything, a slightly TCP tinged malty character. Looks good though, dark brown / reddish with a good amount of bubbles rising for the style. Thick, sweet, caramel deep malt flavour balances well with the bitterness from the hops. Can taste the alcohol, good full body, almost oily. A great standard beer.

500 ml bottle at home. Stood for two days and poured carefully into a pint shaker, but still more cloudy than expected. Hazy brown, with minimal head. Caramel malt aroma with a splash of Cointreau. This is repeated in the flavour, along with dried fruit and nuts. Deceptively thin mouthfeel for the ABV, but as a number of raters point out, this hides its alcohol well, and drinks more like a premium bitter, particularly as there is a hop astringency to the finish.
