Our Glass bottle with a bit of crumpet on the label. Not dated. Pours clear ruby with everlasting head (and great lacing down the side of the glass too). Smooth body with soft fizz. Caramel and raisin malt backbone. The hops hit the back of the throat to dry it out. As it warms, fruity esters really come through, but too warm and there’s sherry booziness to it. Still a really good British beer, but pricey here in the States. Lagerboy (2239) - British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 9, 2011
Ruby red with a thick creamy head. Roasty sweet malts, caramel, burnt sugar with some dried fruitiness. Mild bitterness, nicely balanced. DutchDrebus (6238) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - AUG 2, 2011
Love the graphics too!
Amber to brownish colour. Smells a bit like a stout: roasty and coffee. Also some wort smell. Tastes sweet and malty. Active carbo, nice full body. rondphoto (4494) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - SEP 24, 2011
Cloudy dark amber with medium head and full lacing. Taste is a nice balance between caramel malt and light hop bittering. A good session beer. Gerbeer (4048) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 24, 2013
500 ml bottle. Pours a clear mahogany with medium head. Aromas of molasses and toasted malts. Light flavors of malts, brown sugar, and a bit of biscuit. Bitter finish but overall nice balance. Quite session-able.

2011, bruine kleur, helder, ruikt en smaakt een beetje als een stout, rook en koffie, bitter, zoet, beetje mout. Martin243 (1228) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - DEC 26, 2013
500 ml bottle at home. Stood for two days and poured carefully into a pint shaker, but still more cloudy than expected. Hazy brown, with minimal head. Caramel malt aroma with a splash of Cointreau. This is repeated in the flavour, along with dried fruit and nuts. Deceptively thin mouthfeel for the ABV, but as a number of raters point out, this hides its alcohol well, and drinks more like a premium bitter, particularly as there is a hop astringency to the finish. leebotton (406) - Bristol, Somerset, ENGLAND - JAN 3, 2014
Barely any aroma. If anything, a slightly TCP tinged malty character. Looks good though, dark brown / reddish with a good amount of bubbles rising for the style. Thick, sweet, caramel deep malt flavour balances well with the bitterness from the hops. Can taste the alcohol, good full body, almost oily. A great standard beer. johndoughty (5566) - cheslyn hay, West Midlands, ENGLAND - AUG 13, 2003
Ruby coloured with a slight head and smooth finish. Well balanced and delightfully drinkable.A bit like drinking a weak port but nevertheless a very drinkable beer. Aftertaste is pleasant and rather gentle considering the 6 per cent strength. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - SEP 18, 2003
Clear copper with small creamy beige head, nice circular lacing. Aroma is aroma is toasty and earthy, medium sweet. Taste is light sweet, earthy and roasty, slightly peatish. Finish is scotch ale. Medium body, slightly chewy.
