Bottle. My 100th English beer. Poured a very dark amber color with a thin tan colored head. The aroma is plums with some raisins and toast. There is also some walnuts and milk chocolate. The taste is roasted walnuts along with a little smoke and a slightly salty finish. Thick mouthfeel and some woody character make this feel like a proper winter beer. clifford0163 (93) - Maryland, USA - OCT 22, 2005
has a nice redish color to it. thought it was better when it was a liittle warmer but has a nice sweetness to it and a little spice to. Angeloregon (2055) - Portland, Oregon, USA - AUG 11, 2008
Our Glass from the bottle at By the Bottle in Vancouver, WA--Poured a deep chestnut amber body with a medium whitish head. Nutty, sweet, hoppy, citrus nose. Malty, chalky, mildly tangy fruity flavors. Fullbodied and earthy in the finish. Very nice beer! yngwie (17176) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - MAR 9, 2011
Bottle at John Bull, Aalborg. It pours a clear, dark amber body and a small, dense, off-white to beige head. The aroma is weak and caramel scented, with some roasted, coffee aromas. Full body, slightly over-carbonated. Medium dry. The flavor has coffee, dark chocolate, some dried fruits and a bitter touch. Bitter finish. Pleasant, tasteful and interesting. Would like to have more of this one. 101204 Benzai (16528) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - JUL 26, 2011
Slightly hazy amber colored beer, small slightly off-white head. Don’t smell much. Taste malts, slight coffee, slight hops and fruits. Low carbonation, low to medium body.

500ml bottle poured a reddish-brown color with a small off-white head and some fine lacing. Aroma is mostly toasted malts. Taste is a pleasant malty sweetness with a mild hoppy bitter finish. Medium bodied and lightly carbonated. This is a nice representation of the style and was an enjoyable tasting experience. Gription79 (2893) - Bountiful, Utah, USA - FEB 2, 2012
500 ml bottle. A malty beer. Some fruit notes, caramel. The body is thick and sweet. This beer did not hold my interest. klm1 (1785) - Bled/SF, - JUL 16, 2015
Amber haze colour with creamy white head. Visualy medium carbonation.
Aroma without notice of an alcohol:you can detect fruity-floral notes with sweetness of malts. Taste is the same, finish slightly dry. Malt sweetness is medium, also hop bitterness. Proper beer for its style. shrubber85 (11570) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - MAY 17, 2017
Honey, cardboard, toffee malt, and straw aroma. Dark amber with moderate head. Moderately sweet toffee malt and moderately bitter herbal hay flavor. Nice body. Good - wish I could have had a fresher bottle though. SubstanceT (1092) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - FEB 23, 2004
Translucent or clearish amber wiht a thin white head, medium bubbles. The nose has some hints of bitter and alcohol and wheat hops whatever in the nose. THe taste is strong bitter right off. Later bitter as well. It just hangs out in there. Not that bad but just a tad bitter.
