On tap @ Wynkoop. Copper pour with a white head. Citric hops, passion fruit, and pineapple. Really crazy fruit aromas. Nice toffee notes, too. Flavor is tart tropical fruit. Passion fruit, pineapple, and mango. Some grapefruit, sweet caramel, and toffee. Very nice. djd07 (15356) - Houston, Texas, USA - OCT 11, 2013

12 oz can from Evergreen Discount Liquors. Dark red and slightly hazy with a lasting, off-white head that leaves thick lacing. Aroma is citrus fruits, caramel, sweet malts, light pine, light alcohol and toffee. Similar flavor, medium bitterness and mild sweetness. Medium bodied with a bittersweet finish. Not bad. Can. Dark orangish amber in color, pours smooth with a nice white, slight cream head. Nice lacing, sticks to the glass. A lot of hop to the aroma, caramel, maybe even a sliver of pine and grapefruit hints. Malt character, some citrus notes to the palate, maybe a hint of grassiness, smooth and a bit of a bitter end. This is a beautiful red, I like it.

Aroma of pine hop, tomato juice, and resin. Pours hazy deep red with a giant sticky head. Taste is big and bitter but not pleasant. Bitter pine, slight old grapefruit, and a big autumn leave taste. Good beer but not the most enjoyable. wchesser (2122) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUL 26, 2013
Can. Deep Amber. Nice nose of caramel and pine and citrus hops. Full bodied and flavor follows nose with sweet then bitter clean finish. Solid...a notch below G’night though. Beaver (1830) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUL 18, 2013
12 oz can. Pours ruby amber with a medium pillowy off-white head that retains well and laces the glass some.Ratman197 (15228) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - JUN 24, 2013
The aroma is a little subdued - sweet malts, piney resiny hops and some alcohol.
The flavor is sweet caramel and toffee malts and some fruit with a big grassy resiny (almost tarry) bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, a decent imperial red. I like G’Knight and some of Lagunitas’ offerings better.
On tap at Colorado Plus poured a clear reddish amber with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel, earthjiness, citrus and light pine. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of carmel, fruittiness and light earthiness with a smooth dry lightly bitter lingering fruity finish. notalush (5910) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - JUN 21, 2013
Can - amber ale? - why isn’t this listed as an american strong ale? - anyway, pours a moderately hazy dark red - frothy, well-sustained head - nose is mostly a potent mix of hops - resinous, citric, piney, fruity, peppery - some sticky malt sweetness underneath - more pleasant than I am making it sound - soft carbonation, full body - simple flavor - mostly just sticky caramel maltiness, followed by potent peppery and woody hops with a light bit of alcohol in the finish - it does what it sets out to do, I guess - okay.
