NOTE! In the US this beer is marketed as Xbeeriment #44. The reason for this is that any references to President Obama would only be permitted by US authorities if we had a written permission from the White House. So the dressing’s changed, but the beer stays the same!

Also please NOTE that the first US edition of "Xbeeriment #44" is erroneously labelled 10.4% ABV.

English: Brewed to celebrate Barack Obama’s inaugural as the 44th President of the United States, and the first black person to hold the office. A potent stout with a fair amount of peated malt in the grain bill. This adds a smoky character to the beer which obviously also has roasted aromas from the dark malts and roasted barley as well as loads of citrusy hop notes from the US hop varieties. NOTE: From 2009 - 2012 this beer was brewed at Amager Bryghus. From the summer of 2012 it will be brewed at Herslev Bryghus.

Black with tanned film leaving a good lacing. Sour milk and roasted malt aroma. Alcohol, liqorice, bitter, sweet, lght acidic flavors. Full body. Dry. Sampler poured from bottle @ CBF 2010.

RBSG09. This was kind of an odd one. It had a relatively mild, dry flavor for a stout (ok, for an impy stout, which it was not as I now see). There was almost an off cardboard note to it, although I assume it wasn’t aged. Perhaps, it was just something funny about the roasted barley. At any rate, there’s a very good roasted chocolate flavor in there with some good dry complexity. It just might have been too dry for the size of the stout and the strongly roasted barley flavor.

On Tap at TAP 1, Copenhagen 08/05/2010 Some smoked aroma. Black rich on the palate fruity and hoppy with a hint of dryness in a bitter roast finish.

On tap. Pours black with small beige head; roasted malty, freshly hopped aroma with strong coffee notes and hints of chocolate; flavor is quite hard roasty, bitter and sweet at the same time, including notes of coffee, licorice and chocolate, aftertaste also has a touch of pine; medium body, quite smooth. Obama should me careful not to spoil the name of this brew.

Nice enough stout. Not up there with Goose Island Bourbon County Stout, but nice enough. Purchased on tap at Ørsted Ølbar. Rating fuzzy after drink, but numbers apply.

Mallucci (32) - ITALY - FEB 24, 2010
Colore scuro , una schiuma marroncina molto densa e corposa... Forti le note maltato nonche lievi anche di un leggero torbato... Forte al palato la presenza dei luppoli americani utilizzati... Sentori forti di cioccolata e note di caffe tostato...

Defreni (3220) - Husum, DENMARK - FEB 16, 2010
Fin øl men i mindre doser.
