Black color, light brown head. White pepper, hoppy, sweet scent. Malty, bitter, sweet, roasted, salty taste. Bitter and a bit fruity aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium high bitterness. White pepper gets more dominating when the beer warms up.

Very powerful nose that has it all. Looks great. Very flavourful and full malty start yet quickly gets thinner and leaves mainly coffee and roasted bitterness. Well brewed, not very easy going due to the coffee and bitter finish.

Clear dark black color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, strong coffee. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
Beautiful black beer with a lasting brown head. Fine lacing. Aroma: smoked malt, but also fruity, chocolate, coffee, liquorice, hops in the background. Taste: really well balanced. More hoppy than most stouts, but it goes well with the burnt bitterness from the malt. This connection gives it a very distinct tar-like taste and being half finnish i really enjoy the taste of tar. Really good one.

Bottle from De Bierkoning. Pours a dark mahogany color, showing a bit of
translucency at the edges. A thick, foamy, mocha colored head shows good retention. The nose sports notes of dark, dry, bittersweet cocoa, with a big mocha roast component and a hefty dose of grassy and earthen hops. Flavors follow suit, boldly hopped and roasted, bitter grasses and dark coffee beans playing off of one another uniquely. Cocoa lends a lingering, bittersweet finish. Smooth, the palate has a touch of lactic creaminess, medium-plus in stature. Good brew. One of the hoppier stouts I’ve come across in ages. jesperhammer (4736) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - SEP 15, 2009

500. Thanks, Maria! Pours jet black with a dense, creamy tan head. Lots of bubbles, lots of lace, very dark coloration. Big sweet chocolate and roast nose, just delectable. Creamy medium body, light but firm carb in the background. Very rich roasty dark mid-palate, plenty of chocolate showing through but definitely not predominant in effect. Long dry roasty finish. Lovely, complex, drinkable stuff. Nightfall (1307) - Hamburg, GERMANY - AUG 18, 2009
