COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
NOTE! In the US this beer is marketed as Xbeeriment #44. The reason for this is that any references to President Obama would only be permitted by US authorities if we had a written permission from the White House. So the dressing’s changed, but the beer stays the same!

Also please NOTE that the first US edition of "Xbeeriment #44" is erroneously labelled 10.4% ABV.

English: Brewed to celebrate Barack Obama’s inaugural as the 44th President of the United States, and the first black person to hold the office. A potent stout with a fair amount of peated malt in the grain bill. This adds a smoky character to the beer which obviously also has roasted aromas from the dark malts and roasted barley as well as loads of citrusy hop notes from the US hop varieties. NOTE: From 2009 - 2012 this beer was brewed at Amager Bryghus. From the summer of 2012 it will be brewed at Herslev Bryghus.

bottle at #44 shared at the 5000 tasting - a little grassy, chocolately and boozey with a touch of cream. Raisins and a hint of detergent on the nose.

From a bottle at GBF 2011. Black with medium beige head. Dry rioasted dark chocolate aroma, with some smoke, and resiny hops. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Fairly dry, medium bitterness.

500ml bottle brought back home from Vinmonopolet Vika in Oslo. Opaque back body under a fading, tan-coloured head. Smell of dark fruits, dusty hops and some notes of pine. Dark bitter fruits in flavour along with leafy hops supported by a spicy touch, quite peaty, in fact. Hop bitter endnotes. Different and flavoursome stout (shared with Finn and MrSoul, Tromsø 22.09.2011).

Flaske 0,5l fra Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget. Fortært i heimen 21 Sep 11 sammen med Rune og MrSoul. Svart. Høyt mokkafarget skum. Aroma av kakao & sjokolade. Smaken litt “lett” men rik på nyanser. Lakris, sjokolade & kakao. Litt kaffe i ettersmaken. Alkoholen godt kamuflert.

Draught at KØ09. Cloudy black colour. Very small light brown head. Slightly rough bitterness. Faint hint of coffee. Too much malt bitterness for me.

A very dark brown beer with a small off-white head that actually leaves some lacings. The smell is fairly mild with aromas of smoked and roasted malts, burnt wood, chocolate and hints of fruits. The taste is quite sweet and balanced with flavors of mild peaty smoke, roasted malts, coffee and dark fruits. The finish is mildly bitter, dry and a short with hints of hops. It’s quite soft on the palate with a rather full body and very mild carbonation. Goes down really easy. All in all, a decent beer, very easy to drink. Cask.

RBSG09. This was kind of an odd one. It had a relatively mild, dry flavor for a stout (ok, for an impy stout, which it was not as I now see). There was almost an off cardboard note to it, although I assume it wasn’t aged. Perhaps, it was just something funny about the roasted barley. At any rate, there’s a very good roasted chocolate flavor in there with some good dry complexity. It just might have been too dry for the size of the stout and the strongly roasted barley flavor.
