3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
500 ml. bottle. Pours a thin, very short lived, head, with slight lacing, over a slightly hazy, reddish amber (SRM 15) body.....nose is treacle, plum, dates, fig....taste is sweet with treacle, plum, date, finishing with a moderate spice, pepper bitterness.....mouth feel thick, slightly astringent, sticky, alcohol warmth present, carbonation low, but adding slight tingle. This is an English style Barley Wine, with the complex malt back bone, being slightly dominant over the hops, which add a nice balancing bitterness on the finish. BJCP 8/3/15/4/7

Amber color with a thin lid of beige small beige bubbles. Some fish food floating about. Sweet aromas, with caramel, light fruit, and hint of citric hops. Sweet start, with some candi flavours. Some medicinal and burnt flavors work their way in the mix. Seems “hot” and I don’t see this one progressing. A fruit cake spiced with bad rum. 2/13

Draft at Fools Gold with Brendan. Pours a deep red body with no lacing. Nose is sour malt and barley wine. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with notes of dry, dusty oak, fruit, light alcohol, fruity malt and spice. SG111 (1820) - New York, USA - JUN 21, 2016
Sampled at Alewife, Queens. Pours light brown chestnut, clear. Slightly tan head. Aroma is caramel, toffee, vanilla, mild mild hop citrus backbone, boozy. Flavor is earthy, caramel, toffee. Not as complex as I expected. A lot more nose than in the flavor. radiomgb (2686) - Peterborough, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 28, 2016
500ml bottle. Murky orange brown in colour with a long lasting beige head, excellent lacing. The aroma is very hoppy, lots of candy sweetness, caramel, pepper. The flavour is warming, quite sweet, some fruit, caramel malts, light spice. Warming mouthfeel, medium/large body, high carbonation. Finishes long, warming. A big bold hoppy and chewy barley wine. Fantastic stuff.

Draught (backlog). Murky reddish brown colour with a mediumsized small off-white head. Aroma is rather fruity along with some slight alcohol and mild malty sweetness to it. Flavour is similar with some mild toasted maltiness as well as some earthy and alcohol sweetness kicking in the finish. johnnnniee (4312) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - APR 4, 2015
Bottle from Mike’s Barleywine tasting, thanks for the opportunity!
Earthy spicy pine hops against a fruity caramel sweet malt base. Nice hop blast after a night of aged barleywine drinking. onceblind (9629) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 24, 2014
Hazy dark copper with a thin off white head. Big lovely sticky nose with plum and toffee and boozy dark malt and apple and honey. Lovely big flavor of the same. Lots of honey and pale malt for the backbone with some boozy toffee and apple and dates and raisins. Nice. radagast83 (8059) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - DEC 18, 2014
Draft at Churchkey. Poured a nice orange color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was sweet malts, some sugar notes, booze. Flavor was pine needles, with some sweet brown sugar. A bit of heat to it, but tasty.
