Nip bottle. Poured deeper cola brown with a short, tighter-bubbled dark tan head. The aroma picked up burnt licorice, molasses, and coffee at the core, with dark fruity yeast, oxidation, and a kiss of ash around.. time seemed to mellow this out nicely. The flavor found burnt coffee, ashy roast, and dark fruity malts at the core, with black pepper and dark fruity yeastage laced throughout.. tangy and very roasty.. it held the alcohol in check considering the ABV.. just a little sharp right on the back. Medium-plus bodied and very roasty with low carbonation.. interesting use of the Belgian yeast in there.. overall a tasty and well-aged brew.
Bottle, sampled April 6, 2016. Black with a small beige head. Aroma of chocolate, dried fruit, vanilla and hints of cherry wine. Flavour is vinous and sweet at first with chocolate and grapes and plums. Finishes bitter with roasted malts and a salty, licorice flavour. Black with a small brown head. Aroma is sweet caramel, slight cherry notes, chocolate and some spiciness. Taste is sweet with dried fruits, toffee, light roasted bitter.Finish is medium bitter with some spicy notes and light chocolate. Medium bodied, average carbonation.

Deep dark brown pour.
Medium sized, fairly quick changing beige foamy head on top of a black colored beer.
Since I red they used Trappist Yeast, you smell it. There’s wood, some (darker) fruits like raisin, dried prunes, some peach, soap, some cleaner, chocolate, vinous, hay and soapy grains.
Flavours of spices, yeast, bitters, wood, hops, soap, chocolate, roast, light dry, flowers, apples, leaves, grass, some alcohol, some barley malt roast, nettle, honey, hint of coffee notes and some herbs. Strange combination but not bad.
Aftertaste is bitter, spicy, yeasty, some fruity notes, alcohol, grass and barley malts.

Opaque black beer, no head. Semi crisp palate, semi dry too. Rich dark malt with slight roast. Minerally coffee. Hop bitterness in the dry finish. All right but lacking something.
Pours a clear and dark brown beer with a beige head. The aroma is malt, fruit, dried fruit and alcohol. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is sweetness with alcoholwarmth. Overall a good beer.
