This is a strange beer. It’s black as oil with a brown head, but it doesn’t taste dark at all. There are notes of caramel sweetness and creamy meltiness. This is a good beer that I would drink again. The aroma is very faint and the palate is not very diverse. It is a simple brew in its palate, however, it really does just taste good. For a "black beer" it’s very very drinkable.

UPDATED: DEC 26, 2015 This black beer was enjoyed in a Brazilian restaurant. The color was a deep black. The flavor was like a creamy Porter. The taste was of nuts and malt. This was my first beer from Brazil. It was special. This was one of the twelve beers of Christmas in 2015. The beer poured a deep black with a frothy tan head. This is good beer with a medium body and average to soft carbonation. Nice bitter finish. I raised my scores.

This black ale is well balanced and goes down easy. It has a lot of flavor.

One dimensional malt aroma. Black with very small and short lived tan head. Flavor of roasted malt and barley. Complexity increases as it warms, with licorice and soy sauce coming out. Pleasant herbal/vegetal characteristics. Reminds me of a bock. Very smooth and easy to drink. Heavily carbonated. A good surprise.

Close to black with burgundy reflects. Impressive tan head. Tropical stout like sweetness in the aroma. Milky and roasty aroma where faint licorice, grains and cane sugar can be found. Light bodied, heavily carbonated. It’s not bad, actually rather tasty for a 4.4% beer, but doesn’t have characteristics I dig in that kind of beer, like a crisp and airy mouthfeel, wood notes and better overall malt balance (less raw sugariness and less porterish lactic component). Anyway, there you have it, the best Molson I’ve tried.

This beer is perplexing, in a good way. From the bottle it pours jet black, with no head... Just a tan halo. The aroma is sour and alcoholic, with a hint of chocolate. The flavor is suprising. Sour/Tart and carbonated at first, but finishes sweet and creamy. The finish is a delightful blend of chocolate, molassses, and a slight smokey-woodsy flavor. After reading prior reviews, I was very surprised at how pleasant this beer is. Very mild and drinkable, unlike the look and aroma suggest. Very good!

UPDATED: MAR 3, 2005 Quickly diminishing head on top of a black but not thick pour. Not very aromatic, but a little sweet spiceyness, like a snickerdoodle cookie. Lots of sweet grainy flavor. No hops or spice. Not too shabby. Good chick beer...it looks hardcore, but is pleasantly mild.

Very good taste almost fruity, no hoppy taste at all. Tasted almost like a chocolate stout.

Call it unique--not good--but unique. It reminded me of foul tasting city water. It smells like Sao Paulo.

Bottle poured black! with a small head that was gone fast. Aroma was of wet cardboard. Flavor was good but different??? What is that taste?? Roasty caramel, chocolate. This is a good beer overall and I liked it, but the aroma is of wet cardboard that I am sure of.
