Bottle at Taco Mac. Pours black with a medium, beige head. Strong malt notes of molasses, oats, and vanilla and some faint ester notes of bubblegum and dark fruits. The flavor mellow sweetness and no bitterness. Light to medium body. Silky, grainy, and fairly smooth in the finish. This is a good, easy to drink, malty, and very interesting beer.

Served from 12 oz bottle into pint glass. Pours a 1" tan head that falls slowly with mild lacing. Color is black with a reddish tint. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and toffee along with earthy hops. Medium mouthfeel with a mostly dry finish. Flavors of dark roasted malt, hints of coffee, chocolate, toffee. A lingering hop bitterness in the finish. Overall quite a pleasant and easy drinking brew.

Pours dark and opaque with beige foam. Smells of toasted malt and maybe some coffee and cocoa. The taste brings these out but with a thin body and light fizz. The finish is moderately dry. A good dark beer for a warm day.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Whole Foods, Lynnfield MA. Appearance is dark brown with mahogany, effervescent sparkle, and 1/2-finger width creamy head with nice retention and nice soapy lacing. Aroma is lightly roasted malt with dark fruit, noble hops, and hint of chocolate. Taste is as aroma. Palate is medium bodied with thin, creamy texture, soft carbonation and crisp, dry texture. Overall, this is a pretty decent Schwarzbier. Not sure why rated so low.

Like dark layers and there is plenty of good chocolate roasted notes. Not my favorite though.

Adding a pre-Ratebeer beer that I’m not going to have again. Originally had in Sorrento, April 2015. Sweet surgary. Enjoyable enough. The bar owner was interested to see what I thought as he thought it was horrible.

For the book. Aroma is roasted malt, burned, but sweet, dark fruit and coffee, but a lager quality is present. Appearance is dark dark brown, tan head, poured thin. Taste is caramel, sweet, then roasted malt, coffee, light chocolate, easy to drink. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, a faint roasted malt and sweet aftertaste. Overall, not good for a Schwarz but easy to drink on a hot day.
